  1. Yeah, it's pretty much standard practice for anyone nursing a lower body injury to be held out of bad weather practices even if they would otherwise be out there. Sloppy footing just adds to the potential of reaggravation.
  2. This. The goal of the preseason isn't the score at the end of the game. The goal is for your starters and primary backups to get in work and look ready to go for the regular season. Which team's camp bodies end up playing better is almost entirely irrelevant and as teams are playing their starters less and less in the preseason it's going to probably get less and less relevant in terms of being a predictor for the regular season.
  3. The opposite is actually true. The correlation is pretty weak. The only strong correlation there is that if you completely suck in the preseason then you're highly likely to lose your week one game. After that the correlation drops to practically nil. https://www.rcharlie.com/blog/preseason/
  4. Renfrow pulled a hammy and is day to day so it doesn't sound serious. Yeah, hammies have a nasty habit of lingering but any talk of this impacting his roster position is way premature IMO. If he isn't back within another week or so or retweaks it again, then it'll be fair to start speculating.
  5. Sucks that the joint practice is gonna be a rain soaked slop fest. It is what it is. Football is an outdoor sport and the elements are part of the game but I'm sure both teams would prefer better conditions to get in good practice work.
  6. Yeah, honestly simply not being a bottom 10 defense would be a significant step in the right direction. I expect the D to be rough early on but just hoping to see it improve over the course of the season driven by our rookie pass rushers getting their feet wet. Our overall defensive effectiveness is going to be highly reliant on the play of those two rookies.
  7. The exclusivity will go to the highest bidder. Simple as that. Madden has been an absolute cash cow for EA. Can't see anyone outbidding them.
  8. Nobody cares about the final score of a preseason game. We just want to see the guys who are likely to be on the final roster look like they belong.
  9. Honestly was never a big Ozzy fan but War Pigs is pretty close to perfect.
  10. The #2 seed playing their backup QB.
  11. The worst part about the 8 team format is that they're gonna find a way to get ND in there every year. The best thing about that is that we get to see ND get skull drug by a decent team in the playoffs every year. Every time they've been out on the playoffs they've gotten beat like an old rug.
  12. This is always the conundrum of camp. If this guy or this unit is looking good, is it because he's good or is it because the opposing unit is trash? It makes it even tougher when you're a historically bad team with few proven pieces. I mean, if a youngster is looking good against a proven player or unit that gives you a pretty good measuring stick. We just don't have many good measuring sticks.
  13. And how has that worked out for us overall? A big part of our historic roster building issues has been way over spending both in draft capital and cap space on LBs and RBs while most of the rest of the league was focusing on QBs, WRs, CBs, and linemen.
  14. Just accept LB is almost certainly going to be a weak spot for us this year. I'm just hoping that improved DL play with the additions and getting DB back will help make up for it. It was so bad last year because of the double whammy of being really weak at both DL and LB. If you're weak at both you're cooked. No way around it
  15. You need bodies to get through camp. There's at least one of not two significant contributors at LB for us this coming season that are currently in other camps.
  16. I was never a big online player but I completely quit when that stuff started up. Like yeah, this is gonna become pay to play very quickly.
  17. Bad for everyone except the company holding the exclusive rights. It's great for them. They don't care about producing a quality product, they care about extracting maximum profit.
  18. When you contractually eliminate all competition you get stagnation. EA has no market incentive to improve their product. They can't sell a ton of copies simply by being literally the only game in town.
  19. I'm a cheapskate, don't spend much time playing video games anymore anyway, and only play off-line franchise mode so I'm always a year or two behind in Madden. I wait for the price to get slashed when the new ones come out and usually only buy every other edition. I mean yeah, the actual gameplay hasn't changed in years. You could pick up any of the last ten versions and not notice a huge difference in actual gameplay.
  20. Ah gotcha, you're talking about the online play, cards, and whatnot. Not at all familiar with that stuff.
  21. That looks like Madden thinks we're gonna be drafting in the top three next year.
  22. Pretty much this. We get a few Tweets and videos out of the practices actually open to the media and that's pretty much about it. I appreciate the posters who share that stuff but at the end of the day it's basically just enough to reinforce whatever you wanted to believe to begin with. Lol
  23. Playoffs??!!! LOLOLOL This is Teppers' Panthers. This IS the closest thing we have to the playoffs. The games haven't started yet so we aren't piling up losses. I hope this year is different but a hallmark of the Tepper era has been talking draft by Halloween.
