  1. Well, I mean Jones sucks. "Sacrificing" him would just be a smart move.
  2. How did that work out for us in terms of wins? How has that worked out for the Giants with Barkley in terms of wins? RBs just have too short of a shelf life, are too injury prone, and there's too much bargain production at the position to justify huge resources into the position.
  3. I'll never understand the people who want to continue making the same mistakes that have made us a sub-.500 franchise. We are a losing franchise because we've spent too many resources at non-premium positions leaving too few resources to spend on premium positions. It's honestly that simple.
  4. Yes. All the way back. I'm talking the history of the franchise. We've put a ridiculous premium on RB and off the ball LB. How's that working out for us?
  5. More reason not to trade up for anyone at a non-premium position. I think there's a decent chance we draft a RB somewhere in the 3rd to 5th round range.
  6. Say you haven't been a fan for long without saying you haven't been a fan for long. LOL!
  7. I strongly disagree. A big issue with this franchise is that we have grossly overvalued relatively low value positions (RB and off the ball LBs) at the expense of premium positions. We've had a lot of good players at RB and LB but not a whole lot of wins and not a whole lot of talent at premium positions. Do the math.
  8. This. Carr is worth a discussion because he's an open market FA. Lamar is just off the board for me because Lamar would mean massive contract plus massive trade. We'd be completely hamstrung by the deal.
  9. Yes. It's past time this organization stops treating RB like an ultra-premium position. It's treated like an afterthought by most franchises for a reason. You can get legit RB production in the mid-rounds every year. Draft them, play them, let them walk, repeat.
  10. Pretty much where I'm at. I'd greatly prefer a QB via the draft. I'm just nervous about that sitting at #9.
  11. I think he's much more of a 5 year guy than a 10 year guy but I agree that he's young enough that if you acquire him for what he's going to get on the open market you need to fully commit to him.
  12. Yeah, I think Carr is young enough and you're going to have to commit enough to him contract wise that if you sign him you need to go all in on putting the best team around him that you can. I like the WR depth in this class but I don't see any elite prospects. Go Mayer at #9 then best WR in round 2.
  13. I think we're going to look into it as I'm pretty sure they realize that #9 might be too low to get the QB they might want in the draft and to trade up will prove very costly.
  14. Well, if David Newton says it isn't likely Carr is probably literally putting ink to paper with the Panthers right now. LOL!
  15. Because they have two guys on rookie contracts. One just played pretty well and the other they traded a ton to move up to draft. If I was them I'd have the same plan they likely have - go into camp and let them battle it out.
  16. He'd probably rather stay in the organization that is proven successful with the guys he already knows. I do think this OC hire has likely been delayed because we were waiting on someone who was on a SB staff. Only thing that really makes sense IMO. If it was Johnson, we're almost certainly going to be off to chase whatever option B is.
  17. I really like this WR class overall, but yeah I'm not seeing any slam dunk elite prospects. But I think it's deep with quality players.
  18. This would be my preference but I think Carr is going to interview with teams and make sure someone is going to commit to him. If you signed him then drafted a QB in the 1st I think he'd go ballistic because you will have flat out lied to him.
  19. The state of the division makes Carr more appealing to me. If we were in the AFC I'd be against it. But the NFC is overall significantly weaker. We can make a run in the NFC with Derek Carr, a good overall off-season, and legit coaching. Just my opinion
  20. Not sure why all the panicking over the Raiders' lack of wins this year with the #28 overall defense.
  21. I don't want to draft a QB just to draft a QB. At #9 you're leaving a lot to chance. Drafting the QB we want likely means having to trade up.
  22. I wouldn't hate it even though I'm admittedly very tired of the retread carousel. I do like Carr and I honestly think he's a borderline top 10 QB in this league. #9 is likely too far down the board to get the QB we want so we're left with either pursuing a costly trade up or chasing Derek Carr. Might as well make a run at Carr first. Or trade our entire future for Lamar. That's the route I definitely wouldn't go.
  23. Quality varies WIDELY from individual shop to individual shop. It's a cheap paint job, no doubt. But some do a decent job. Others you might as well rattle can the damn thing yourself. The more prep you can do yourself the better off you're gonna be simply to ensure that it actually gets done.
  24. Carr ain't coming cheap. Whoever signs him is going to be all in on him.
