Why does Bryce Young and Jonathan Brooks have to do with this?

I agree. I'm just saying DEFINITELY don't mortgage the franchise for a player like that. Bryce fits the classic mold of the great college player who just lacks the measurables to project as a starter at the next level and ends up being a mid-late round pick. I have no idea why with this particular guy the entire football world adopted a narrative of how all the red flags didn't matter and he'll excel anyway. I've never seen that happen before. The Golden Calf of Bristol getting drafted by McDaniels in the 1st is probably the closest thing I can come up with and he was still a late 1st rounder.

Ken Woodley might not be the smartest man in the world but he's probably smart enough to have bailed on this poo show by now which makes him smarter than most of us. LOL

Yeah, the only lesson to take from the Bryce situation is that you don't completely mortgage the franchise to trade up to draft a guy that has every physical talent red flag a QB can have.

Never had an issue with doing that. Acknowledged that Bryce was playing better as of late. But today was Bryce of old. I just don't think he has the talent to hack it as a starter in the NFL. He's just too limited. There's only so much you can do schematically to cover for the deficiencies.

No. Because the previous three didn't either. His recent better games just opened up the door for me to consider that he might be able to peak as a serviceable starter. I still wasn't convinced of it.

And if he's not there then you're going to happily target your best receiver against the other team's third best CB. Which is the whole point of situationally putting your best WR in the slot.

Is the other team's best receiver suddenly not their best receiver if he lines up in the slot? This is how the Giants nearly came back from a huge deficit against us in 2015. They put OBJ in the slot to get him away from Josh Norman and then he started just lighting us up because our defensive scheme just flat out didn't allow for Norman to play in the slot.

Pretty much. Canales was doing a really good job adapting but there's only so much you can do schematically and with situational play calling when your QB is very limited and your overall offensive skill position talent is mediocre. If we can't run the ball down our opponents' throats with Chuba behind our OL we're cooked.

Josh Allen has more yards in 12 attempts before halftime than Bryce has had in all but two games this season and all but five in his career. I mean... that kinda says everything.

I think Canales tailored his play calling around Bryce's strengths when he came back into the lineup and now we're seeing defenses adapt to that now that there's some film of it available. We'll see what he looks like over the final games.
