Yeah, the more I saw him at the SR Bowl the more I thought "Fool's gold". More of the same. I am not sure I see things as Canales, but I am thinking we need YAC guys--and good route runners who are disciplined, not just better athletes--Ladd?

I agree. He is a difference maker and even if LB is not the biggest need, he would make the biggest impact long term. People need to watch this guy on tape--

I think you are right--I think the Huddle is a place for overreaction--we all do it--but I have never seen more of that than this year, understandably. But sometimes the problem is not personnel, but scheme. Sometimes it is playcalling that puts you in a bad situation. Mental mistakes due to overcoaching that leads to confusion. Any number of things. This offseason we MUST address WR. That is a given. We must address Offensive Line depth, whether that be finding players to make our starters reserves of finding reserves for our starters. Ekwonu, Christensen, Bozeman, Corbett, and Moton. That was pretty good in 2022. I think (not really talked about) that we need CB depth. I think a new system might help our TE room (Ricci, Hurst, Tremble) so I am not sure that I am going to invest in a new TE this season. I see the argument for getting a TE, but in my big pic, I want to see what Ricci and Tremble can become and I want to see Hurst have a year that he is capable of providing. Edge depends on burns. If he stays, and we have Haynes, Barno, Leota, YGM, and Johnson--there is some young talent to develop. Remember, Hardy, Charles Johnson, even Rucker were not studs until around year 3. Basically, I prioritize it this way: 1. Alpha WR 2. CB (after oft injured Horn and Jackson, what do we have? Jackson is in a contract year and we will need to make a decision on Horn soon. Time to get a CB who can play nickel. 3. Offensive Line depth (C/G is ideal, but C then G then OT, imo.) Reason? With BC, Corbett coming back, G is average. Mays might develop into a solid backup. Tackle? If you include BC, we have 3 potential starters there. Bozeman did not have a good year, and he can play G. A center if Bozeman struggles is not a bad idea. 4. WR again Of course we need help in other areas, but it is not as dire as we think. On defense, we get Shaq back. We need Luvu to be re-signed. We need a CB and maybe a pure NT? Who knows. lotta ways it could go.....

The problem is nobody really knows the problem. Question: Is Purdy better than Young? Not the team, stats, etc. As a player, how is he better than Young in terms of skills, etc. If there is a difference, it is this: You see the best of Purdy--the supported player with limited talent, a great defense, good OL, excellent weapons. You see the worst of Young. No consistent support, no oline, few weapons. If you put Purdy on the Panther roster in 2023, wonder how he does? If you put Young on the niners roster in 2023, I wonder if he plays much better?

The premise of your argument is that you are privy to inside information and I am not. And if you are a concrete operational thinker, you miss dry humor and ambiguous suppositions--I said, she may have had a voice in it. It was really a subtle joke about how shotty the front office is, but now I am defending myself against someone who seems to get angry when he thinks he has spotted a comment by someone else that does not comport with his opinion. No, I do not think she made the decision, but the part where I said "She may have had a voice in it" seems to have been overlooked by you--maybe the rage, the eyes tearing up or the frothing at the mouth--I don't know. Seriously- Young's season is historically bad according to what ? The results? His stats? Not even close. I have posted this several times. What would you want a team to do if their rookie QB completed 38% of his passes and threw 6 TDs and 24 interceptions? What if that QB threw a pick every 9 passes? A #1 overall pick, mind you, who went to a bad situation. You would have cut him. This team surrounded him with a great OL and weapons to throw to. This guy went on to win 4 Super Bowls. twice Super Bowl MVP. Three pro bowls, and a league MVP award. The people who wanted him run out of town on a rail after his rookie year, kinda shut up after that. And he wears a yellow jacket.

Right on, brother. I put off mock drafting as long as I could because it makes the off season longer. I broke down before Thanksgiving and dove into the Mock Draft Simulator 24 pool. Now I have to tread water for 5 months until free agency and the draft. I used to go to OTAs every year--not camp--too hot and too many people. I think I will go this year, just to see these players up close again.

I felt that we were soft at CB and vulnerable up the middle. Derrick Brown played every down and the defense was on the field most of the game, but if he needs rest or gets injured, yikes. I honestly do not know how this defense was so good-Starting LB lost for the season (Shaq), Starting CB (Horn) gone most of the season. That is nearly 20% of the starting D. Chinn disappeared.

I wanted Stroud early on last year, but I had my doubts about him. When Drew Brees came into the league, they said his arm was weak. Matt Ryan's arm was not strong. My reservations were formed when Frank and David and Scott felt the need to promote his personality and maturity. Like they were selling the pick. I have a feeling that Nicole may have made the pick---at least had a voice in it.

I will say this--the world we live in is so polarized people want to make instant decisions and then they fix in on their beliefs to such a degree, they would rather Bryce suck than be proven wrong. I am not optimistic, but I have seen players come around after 1 year at QB. This coach could be the difference. Bryce has an adequate arm that is accurate when he has time to step into throws. He is known to be smart. He had a lot of voices in his ear, his OL sucked with 40% on IR most of the season, his WR room changed and had issues getting open, the play calling was predictable and vanilla, and his starting TE underperformed and went to IR. What support system did he have going for him? Baker Mayfield was a short first round pick who struggled and, if you ask me, was a bust when he got here. Canales, using the resources around him (better than Bryce's right now) devised a system where he would be successful, and he was. John Elway completed 47.5% of his passes during his rookie season, and threw twice as many picks as he did TDs (7). Wonder what Denver fans were saying? Tua in Miami in year 1 completed 64% of his passes and had more than twice as many TDs than Picks. They wanted him gone. In 2022, however, he threw 25 TDs and only 8 interceptions. They thought first overall pick Terry Bradshaw was a bust in Pittsburgh after his rookie season behind a bad offense. He completed 38.1% of his passes and threw 6 TDs against 24 interceptions. 11% of his passing attempts were picked off---1 out of every 9. What a bum. A bum that wears a yellow jacket and has a few rings. Just give the kid a chance. The rookie campaign was not good, but every aspect of his supporting cast LET HIM DOWN. He is 22 years old. When terrorists flew planes in the twin towers, he was being conceived. When I was 22 I was laughing at fart jokes and still trying to decide on a major. Nobody here has ever had to perform under that kind of pressure. Give Bryce a year under Canales. If he is no better, he will be benched and we will go back into the QB market.

In fairness to him, what has the Swiss Army ever won?

YAC guys with the ability to go deep--slants will be big, screens, outs. go routes (when the presnap read is man with no S help) I also think Bryce will develop the back shoulder throw--not sure I saw that much from him this year.

Realistically, it helps to know what we will have at the position in 2024. Thielen (unless he requests a trade and is given one, he will be here. Bryce counts on him, but he should not be much more than a #2.) Mingo (He had nearly 500 yards in a dysfunctional offense. That is a high percentage of Bryce's total passing yards. He will improve.) TMJ (It makes little since to not give him one last shot with the new offense. Sometimes players prosper) Smith Marsette (I like him, but as the fifth WR. He too is in the 6-1 range and runs a 4.42 ish 40. He has less beef than the others.) we are going to sign a free agent and draft 2, imo--

Very good center draft this year, imo. Something to like about each of the top 3, and I think with 2 Guards returning from IR (And BC was not that good at LG), Bozeman having a year where he got beat a lot (could be the reserve Guards on each side, but I saw him get blown up by NTs) the middle needs attention. I am for it. At 65, Powers Johnson will be gone--if we had a first rounder, he would be a great second round selection. I would take either Frazier and Van Pran and be as giddy as a little school girl.

Yes, I think Chubba is going to be the guy, but a dual threat back on passing downs would be a nice touch. Sanders was such a bad addition, and I was angry when we grabbed him. You simply don't have to pay RBs a ton of money and you don't go after RBs that ran behind the best OL in football and compensate them for their production. In Philly, he was often not touched until he was 4 yards up field.

In my opinion, we are going to need a deep guy or two. Not sure where I read this, but Baker was 6th in passes (completions) over 30 yards and second in the NFL in completions over 40 yards. I need to watch some Bucs video to see what Baker did. Now, he played to Baker's STRENGTHS, not his height, which would be a weakness. I am not of the mindset that Bryce's strength is the same as Baker's, so I have to wonder. It could mean that he likes the deep ball to the big WR--so he turned Baker's weakness into an advantage for Evans. He had to play the players he had. The players he will have to play here? Mingo. Not sure if we keep Thielen or anyone else. Maybe Smith Marsette. The good news? Canales will have a big voice in picking his WR room. I think we give TMJ one more season, maybe the light comes on in the new system and he finds his groove. I think we draft 2 WRs and I think we bring in a free agent. Not sure about TE. He will want a better dual threat RB than Chubba.

To be fair, he has to have something to pass the time when others are dating or having sex.
