Who needs CBs? Snow is going to a 4/6/1 defense, I heard.

He put 300 on on us one year. Hellacious defense
-
Move him to TE to take Gronk's rolw

can't watch without my thesaurus.

Wow. Not good. My uncle lost more than that in one day. Had his leg amputated.

He had to get right for speedo season

Now we know that herbert would have been worth moving up for---Fields in 2021 over Horn?

And there are many defensive lineman that take a few years to mature and develop. I see Brown in that mold. I still wonder how, in this era of the QB, we had top 10 draft picks and ended up taking a DT and a CB when the QBs were pretty good--only to take a QB during a draft when they were not that good--at the end of round 3 no less.

last season, they thought the addressed the OL on day 1 of free agency (we hated the OL acquisitions then, and rightly so) and they really thought the QB position had been addressed or we'd have Fields right now. I think they are taking a wiser, more practical approach to this season, fwiw.

If I may speculate--he seemed to suffer from an identity crisis last year--was trying to rush the passer on every down and got blown up a lot. If he anchors and bull rushes on passing situations, he should be better.

On paper, and maybe I am drunk on preseason optimism, but I think we are better than last year. I worry about DE/OLB, Left OL, QB, CMC's health, Anderson's mental condition, and linebacker--not many people worrying about that--but I think we need a stud MLB and I do not see it.

More behind the scenes info on the Mayfield trade
MHS831 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
If Baker plays and has a good year, he is going to seek $40-50m. I say, in that case, we tag him and see how well Corral is developing. If Baker has a good year 2 here, you should pay him. I was talking to my brother-in-law--a chiropractor from columbus, Ohio--and he said they liked Baker in Ohio because he was the first successful QB (2020) in some time and his blue collar chip on the shoulder was a good fit for the dog pound. He said we got a good deal-Baker was hurt in 2021 and there were coaching issues as well as some locker room issues that bent him sideways. Said he could be really good with a new team and some new maturity. He thinks this may have humbled him, but he has been proving himself his entire life--don't bet against him. Said Darnold is soft and the next Joey Harrington with a Sam Bradford upside...Said he was certain we'd draft Fields last year. I said, "But we had all our eggs in the Darnold basket." -
The amount of Money on the table for a successful QB is enormously higher than the peanuts they are squabbling over now. It makes NO SENSE to miss one minute of camp because the odds are already against the player.

Sportrac has his projected contract at $5m over 4 years....He will probably get time vs. Sam Howell of the Commanders during the first preseason game...Cannot believe Howell was not taken until round 5--behind 4th rounder Bailey Zappe. I personally think that both Corral and Howell have upside and could be some of the drafts best steals when we look back in a few years.

Somebody does not know the Panthers., This is lazy journalism.
-
in fairness, the panthers were second in the NFL with 29 turnovers.

This isn't what people want to hear, but BC at LT and Ickey at LG might be the strongest lineup for 2022. BC is athletic but not a bulldozer; Ickey might be a better G than T because he can move a Dt and get to the next level effectively.

Personally, I think our secondary is going to be excellent. I think we have 2 safeties, Hartsfield, and 4 CBs who should be ready to play (Horn, Jackson, Henderson, Taylor). If we are going to pay someone some money, it needs to be a pass rusher, imo

We are a CHAOS team per Brooks, but some see us as a team in chaos
MHS831 replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
Want to know exactly how bad our run game was last year? (OL and RB?) Chuba Hubbard (I saw this stat somewhere but can't recall the source) led the league in carries that netted ZERO yards gained---25% of them went for ZERO yards or less. Throw in the fact that the OL can't pass block either--it was a nightmare. -

We lost our #1 and only legit RB last year, our #1 CB, our OL was trash, and we did not get much production from WR2 or the TE. The QB saw "ghosts" and behind him was a USFLXFLSemi-Pro Microsoft Surface operator. I like to think that CMC will return healthy, Anderson and Marshall have better years, Tremble steps up, Horn comes back and Henderson decides that he can play. Throw in an upgraded OL---there is reason to feel some optimism.
