  1. "Any QB is only as good as the people around him." (Bill Polian on Kenny Pickett)
  2. I mentioned more than the playoffs--I mentioned not opening up his baggage. Comfortable is not the right word, but if he plays well and there is no locker room garbage, you have to consider it.
  3. Beane is an acquaintance of mine--played QB at South Stanly High School (a student of a good friend of mine) and went to UNC W. For a few years, we were getting our cars inspected at the same time and talked for a few minutes when he was with the Panthers (early on). In fact, I used to bump into Mike Turgovac (sp?) around town as well. But Brandon never seemed that smart--just average. Of course, he is no Marty Hurney. (By the way--Beane liked Marty Hurney and the team president--forgot his name).
  4. If he opens his baggage here or does not lead this team to the playoffs, we are drafting our QB in 2023 and letting Baker walk.
  5. Here is what I offer Cleveland: An escape from the awkward Trade Sam Darnold for Baker Mayfield. Cleveland gets: A serviceable backup (although they already have Brisett, this is a 1-year situation to get rid of a headache, add a player at no cost. Carolina gets: A QB on a one-year prove it deal.
  6. We need to get Robby in the front office. Brainpower=Super Bowls.
  7. I am certain about this: Nothing is certain. It is not certain who we will pick, if that pick sucks or goes to Canton. Just gotta hope for the best. NFL Network did a piece on "Twitter Rage" where they looked back at the tweets from the 2018 draft, for example. Many People in Buffalo were outraged when the Bills selected the "wrong Josh" (they wanted Rosen). So for those of you pretending to know who will be good and who will bust---I have this for you: You could be wrong. There. I said it.
  8. Jimmy G had just about a perfect situation for a QB---you see his best.
  9. Funny, but this is only news because we make it newsworthy. It is just some asshat running his mouth for clicks and pats on the head. Nothing to see here.
  10. You know, the players' union needs to soon realize that the majority of the new money is going to one position.
  11. Jones was talking about trading up, however.
  12. the talent really drops off in the first round around 11-14. It would take the second and third to swap firsts--but 24 is after some QB needy teams (Pittsburgh, New Orleans) draft. Prolly not happening.
  13. This could mean that Rhule is not happy about drafting a rookie QB and sees the writing on the wall.
  14. Did the restaurant name end in "Cheese"?
  15. I hope Roy and and another DT step up; often year 3 is a charm. I think we are better at LB than last year, and I think our secondary (with Horn and X) will be upgraded. I am not ready to call Henderson (CB) a bust, but Hartsfield at Nickel with Horn and Jackson is not bad. We need a pass rusher, but do not forget, YGM is entering year 3---CJ and Hardy were head scratches until year three. Give Haynes some reps....we really could be good. I think too often people pull the bread out of the oven too soon and think the bread sucks. Maturation (Henderson, YGM, Roy) is going to be important.
  16. I hate to say this, but anyone watching the OL like I do (used to coach OL so I got trained to do so) would realize that the middle of the OL was the biggest problem. Not to say that OT was on point, but BC was decent there when I watched. Does that mean he is the next Joe Thomas? No, but all NFL offensive lines have a weak link--it is when you have 2 that it becomes problematic. The salary cap will prevent you from having an OL with 5 top notched players--so you need to be good at 2, decent at 2, and maybe developing at 1. I think BC has the athleticism to be decent.
  17. I think the Panthers are going to either take that tackle or edge rusher (since there are 6 elite players, one will be there) or they are trading back to the middle of the draft and taking Corral. So I will say with precise uncertainty: #6 Neal OR #15 or so: Corral and then Zion Johnson (G/C from BC) in round 2. Corral has the quick release and is accurate. He is a good athlete and can run the RPO. Good fit in this offense.
  18. He likes to fish--saw him fishing for trout at South Mtn. once. Spoke to him, but a crowd gathered. One of them said, "Who is that guy talking to MHS831?" Well, the first part of that was true.
  19. Baker on a 1-year "prove it" fifth year deal is not the solution, but it could happen that way--if he balls out, they could lock him down, but I doubt anyone here would be happy about Baker at $40m per going forward. He is up and and down. I would ask that Cleveland pays half his fifth year option. And for 1 year, if the locker room sours with him, you let him go. I dunno. typing this made me feel slimy.
