  1. Our defense, by design, needs studs up front. If we have to pay $13m per season for a CB, we are not doing it right up front. It is not about talent, it is about resource allocation. You would sign Norman long term and let Short or KK walk? Not me. Before KK and Short, when was the last time we had a decent DT? Jenkins? He was drafted before Hurney was here. We are where we are because of our stout front 4 supported by some of the best LBs in football. Norman is the beneficiary of that. I see your point, but paying an elite player on the brink of decline top dollars for 4 years or so is not what I would do.
  2. One more thought Are there people on this board who think a long-term (4 years) deal would be a mistake? I feel that he is peaking--and he wants elite money for 4 years--I am guessing around $55 million. If we can get one year--perhaps his best year at 28---and turn him loose at age 29, we can say we would not be paying top dollar for a 32-33 year old CB. Just a thought, but this is a business. We never have paid a premium for CBs--we are invested in the front 7. I hate to lose him, but if he wants to get filthy rich, he may be talking to the wrong GM Finally, if you look at Norman's rise to prominence, it is directly related to the rise in prominence of the DL. Coincidence? Not saying he is not great, but I am saying he could not be as elite as he thinks he is..
  3. Have not read the entire thread, so excuse me if this obvious statement has been stated and repeated-- Gettlemen needs to sign a CB in free agency and draft one. Leverage, but we will need 2 anyway. That sounded better in my head.
  4. There were games where the Panthers let off the gas this season. Seattle is not the team to do that with--I would say another TD will put this one out of reach (which would put Carolina up 7 scores) One TD, Shula.
  5. Yep. Thankful that Minnesota is between domes.
  6. If you look at stats, why not throw losses in the pile? Wilson is notthing but stats--Cam is everything beyond them.
  7. Reality check for Cowknuckle fans: Even if we lose, we are 10-1, you are 4-7. And don't use the injury excuse. We can win with our second-string qb because we are not being run by an idiot. Our GM has vision, Dallas' has ego and surrounds himself with yes men. During our 14-game win streak, we have had injuries too. Don't believe me because we were 14-0?: 1. QB (First-rounder Cam missed Tampa Bay last year at the end of the season following his accident) 2. MLB (First-rounder Luke missed several games this season) 3. NT (First Rounder Star missed the first few games with a foot injury) 4. WR (First rounder Kelvin Benjamin out for season) 5. RB (First rounders Stewart and or Williams missed games during this streak) Let me stop there--how many teams have 5 first rounders on their roster? How many games were we at full strength? 6. DE (Charles Johnson spent half a season on IR) 7. RG (Norwell out for multiple games mid season) 8. CB (Tillman was out last week) And there have been others, but this is not widely known because we didn't make excuses--oh, wait--we didn't need to. So don't hand me the BS about your WR and QB. We have had more injuries to our core and didn't miss a beat.
  8. Cam has never been better. He usually starts slow. If the D stops them here, we will be on our way--they have found something running to the right.
  9. Classic case of Panthers playing at the level of the competition.
  10. Putting Ealy on the Left side might be good for him. Let us pray..
  11. Norwell is having a PRO BOWL start to the season. Discuss.
  12. Ed Dickson, Teddy Williams----nice one/two punch-----in the gut.
  13. Harper has missed 4 tackles that I saw and Bene has looked lost at times. We need pressure, so expect some blitzing in the second half
  14. Suggestion: We should never draft an OL again if Gettlemen can find them in the dumpster. Hats off to Remmers and Norwell. Prediction: Remmers LT and Williams RT one day soon.
  15. The line judge on the camera-side of the field was takiing away about a half yard with every spot. He was terrible.
  16. Crystal ball says Stewart right side for 2 yards.
  17. Opening drive of the second half-If we get a TD, Jax will fold.
  18. This Harper LOVE has to stop. It really makes NO sense. Damn, Ron, end the crush and come to terms with the fact that he sucks. I don't have friends that could cost me my job--I suggest you do the same.
  19. I bet Brown has no fingernails left. He had a secure job in August--now he is a bubble boy.
  20. Wallace and McCray have to be next
  21. Jacobs = Trusnik Maybe Gettlemen is worried about a potential comp pick. Chandler is the 4th OT, and Silatolu is a backup who can play both sides---Still, I think we shop through the cuts today to find an upgrade or 2. Silatolu, A. Edwards, J. Clausen, E. Brown, Otah--damn, Hurney. I seriously would have done better.
