  1. There are some good DTs (NT, 3 tech in this draft). In my mocks, I take 2. For that reason, I go edge in round 1. WR you ask? I look for those who run good routes and catch the ball cleanly. If you had to choose right now, who would you keep on the roster--XL or Coker? One was a first rounder, the other an UDFA. So don't tell me there are no Wideouts to be found. I can list 12 that would improve us...but you asked about DT--any of these in round 2 would be great---Grant (mich) Nolen (Ole Miss) Harmon (Ore), Williams (Ohio St), Walker (KY), Sanders (SC). Sleeper? Collins (Tex). I love the DTs in this draft. Edge? ( I am discarding the Sam LB--holds the edge and plays run to pass--capable of moving down into the 3 tech--I think we have that on the roster in Wonnum, Johnson, Barno, etc. I am looking for either a true pass rusher or a hybrid who can cover and rush from multiple positions--like Parsons from dallas) After Carter, I really like jalen Walker from Georgia.I like Mike Green (Marshall) in round 2 or Jack Sawyer (Ohio State). Sawyer is an excellent all around edge player with a great motor and bats down a lot of passes. Finally, in round 2, I might take BC's Donnovan Ezeiruaku--he had 80 tackles at Boston College and 16.5 sacks. who does that? Princely Umanmelien (sp) from Ole Miss is highly rated, but I am not that high on him personally because I think he is a one-trick pony--sack artist. In the third round, We could add another South Carolina edge--Kyle Kennard who is learning the position with success (11.5 sacks, 3 FF) but he is weak vs the run, imo. In the third I'd rather have Bradyn Swinson from LSU who had over 50 tackles, 8.5 sacks. If we do not get Carter, I would trade back and grab Mike Green or Jalen Walker and grab a DT or two in round 2.
  2. I agree--as the OL goes, he goes--but if he trends north, that is a good thing. We bought the stock at its highest possible price--it crashed--and now it is eeking back up--but nowhere near the price we paid--I look at Bryce as 1/3 of the equation--never an all or nothing proposal. We are like Alaskans seeing the sunlight for the first time in months. Bryce has some value and is improving--that is good. However, this is not about Bryce--it is about getting a QB under center who can win a super bowl. Bryce has a shot to win the job next year and I feel much better now than I did in September, but decisions based on emotion bring pink slips. Draft a qb with good skills in the middle rounds this year, and if we do not have a consistent, winning qb by the end of the 2025 season, we go back into round 1 and get one.
  3. I think some think pro bowler to fufure hall of famer, Consistent winner--but that is pretty rare--Cam was neither, but most Huddlers would take him back in a minute if in his prime. I mean, some would consider Murray with the Cardinals a franchise qb based on his contract--
  4. If this season--with Cousins sucking in Atlanta, Darnold and Sam doing well in their playoff races, Rodgers sucking in NY---does not teach us anything about the role of coaching (system, play calling), weaponry (WRs, RBs, and TEs) and protection (OL, good defense) in QB play, nothing will.
  5. But...but...but...he su...sucks? Good sign, Nas. I would love to see us end the season on a positive note.
  6. Happy to see Bryce get better--until we have a top 10 QB, however, you keep shopping. He has until we find someone better to prove himself. If he lessens the need, he extends his longevity. That is how it is for all NFL players.
  7. the thing that might be somewhat overlooked here is this: Canales may indeed be the QB whisperer. I don't see Bryce improving without him. That is pretty important in the long term.
  8. We need LBs--build the roster from the bottom up. On offense, we have Coker who has been huge...if you fill your weaknesse without having to use free agent $$$ or draft picks--win win.
  9. I agree with that--and a good game manager understands that it is his job to get the ball to better athletes at the right time. I would even say, "All great QBs are game managers first." What then, is the special sauce that separates game manager from elite QB? OC/play calling, weaponry, protection. The General, the ammo, and the armor.
  10. And we could use a stud TE to go with Sanders and Tremble. That would be an awesome TE room.
  11. Looking at this from the Canales viewpoint: He inherited Bryce. No emotional commitment to him. He did not pound the table for Bryce in meetings before the draft in 2023. He was hired to turn him around, so to speak, and he has done that. Bryce could be tapping on his ceiling, and Canales will reach a point when he wants more.
  12. And there have been teams with average QBs and loaded rosters-mainly teams with great defenses--like the 85 Bears, for extreme example, that have won it all with a game manager--but it is much better to have an elite QB.... This draft will have some decent qbs who could become a good NFL starting QB--I think of Cousins being taken with RGIII in the same draft. I think of Brady being drafted when the Pats had Bledsoe---I hope we go after a guy like Howard from Ohio State, Rourke from Indiana, or (and people might laugh at this, but he has the skills) Beck from Georgia. Yeah, Bryce is a game manager--that is all he was at Bama.
  13. Cards Offense TOTAL Cards 11, Panthers 31 Passing Cards 21, Panthers 29 Rushing Cards 7, Panthers 27 Scoring Cards 15, Panthers 28 Scoring Red Zone Cards 20, Panthers 16 (Get some, red birds!!!) Overall, if I am the Cards game planning vs the Panthers, I am going to run the ball 65% of the time.
  14. The Cards Defense Stats defense ranked 30th in third down conversions, but 10th in red zone defense. Other stats-- defense overall Cards 16, Panthers 31 Passing Cards 13, Panthers 11 (Get some, Red birds!!) Rushing Cards 19, Panthers 32 Scoring Cards 10, Panthers 32
  15. I have sawyer and Jalen Walker in my last mock--traded back to 28, took Sawyer, then grabbed walker with the second round--Walker is a Micah parsons to me....Id take Marshall's Mike Green too.
  16. Watching Ohio State Tennessee-Pearce (Tenn Edge) looks fast--not sure he is much of a drop off from Carter--and I love Jack Sawyer from Ohio State--think he will be a better pro than college player---can get to the QB and hold the edge--very disciplined from what I can tell. Howard (QB) looks like a solid NFL backup--one that could look to start in time.
  17. The Steelers seemed happy to get rid of him--I thought we got the best of that deal--nope. But D Jax was gone regardless, so it was def worth the look, even if we knew of his "issues." Sometimes a new environment will change that.
  18. That pick just sounds like us--reminds me of when we took Burns, actually. And Aussie, I have not looked into this yet, but there is a LB from Georgia (Walker) who gives me the Micah Parsons feel--a bit short (6-2) but he is a good athlete and can play from multiple spots...I would not take him in the top 10, however. Unless Hunter drops to us, lock in Graham (DT) or Carter (Edge) if we do not move back. In my view, if we could drop back about 10 spots, we could add a second. The worst thing about that is best described using Gettlemen's metaphor--"a Quarter is worth more than 2 dimes."
  19. This is a fluff article written simply by looking at OTC--I appreciate the view, but getting rid of Wonnum and Clowney is nonsensical. Even if we draft an edge, it takes a bit of time to develop. Rucker, Hardy, Charles Johnson--all were not that effective until year 3--We need a young edge while we have some veterans on the roster--and if we want a Peppers-like rookie edge, it is not happening this year. there are some solid players, however, but I don't see any Watts or Bosas.
  20. Three guys whose last names are difficult to spell--it just might work!!!
