  1. Same page. I like the Chargers, hate the Commanders (but the hate for Atlanta's home jersey is growing on me--and I really think the Seahawks electric green is awful, but not their usual home--the Lions' all gray was bad), and love the old Patriots. Why they ever changed from that red with the UCLA stripes and that white helmet--I will never understand. I see the Kelly Greens in Philly as an option
  2. In the spirit of the offseason before the all-star games, I think this will be interesting if not silly--try to be objective--forget the team, purely look at the HOME uniform design for the 2024 season. In the third category, consider throwback uniforms only. 1. Best looking HOME uniform in the NFL: 2. Ugliest home uniform in the NFL: 3. Best looking Throwback Uniform in the NFL: That is it. Just curious what Huddlers think. Add reasons/explanations if you want.
  3. Tight End in the NFL is becoming one of the most complicated positions to play. I hate to judge anyone who has been in three systems in three years. Tremble might get paid, but the smart move is to let him shop himself and let him know that an offer is on the table.
  4. our nickel...if we can keep Jackson, we'd be set. Bartholomew and Evans were decent with flashes of good in limited play at the end of the season. Might have what we need.
  5. That would be a shocker (Yes, I went there), but OT is an area where you could reduce the payroll. Imagine trading Moton instead of extending him? Some will say, "but we need a DT and Edge and ..." and they would be right, but if you decrease the payroll, you can sign free agents. I doubt it happens and I would be scratching my head because picking a T would not be a pick that was void of other dominoes falling for it to make sense. .
  6. Exactly. And there are some QBs that can be found in the fifth round or later--you just have to do your homework and get lucky. A QB like Ryan Fitzpatrick (7th round), for example--what a find he was--one of the best career backups (even though he was forced to start a lot) I could think of--maybe Gardner Minshew (6th round)--similar situation. Of course, Brady and Purdy are outliers--I could see a Dillon Gabriel fall into that fourth-fifth round area.
  7. I always found it interesting that a kicker would almost be an afterthought. They determine the outcomes of games nearly as often as the QB. Yet they are underpaid and asked to perform cold in the most high-pressure situations. Some teams have special team players who make tackles who are higher paid than the kicker. For example, the Lions just signed Jalen Reeves-Mabin to a 2-year extension worth $8m. Their kicker, Jake Bates, makes $800K. Funny, but in college, our kicker practiced on a separate field, until we went to team when he would come up and kick for FG/XP and Kickoff. Then back to the separate field. We did not know him. He did not hang out with us, and we made fun of his skinny body and funny shoes. Then one day, you are down by 2 with 3 seconds left and the ball is sitting on the 30. The game is riding on this skinny dork with funny shoes. I think, during my freshman year, he won 3 of our 9 wins. We should compare the kicker to the closer in baseball, but we don't seem to value him like we should. I mean, nobody calls a timeout to ice the left guard.
  8. He is a fraud--we do better than him every year. Jalon Walker is a player I like, but if you look at his body of work at UGA, he was not that effective in an edge alignment. He can play all over--more Luvu probably than Parsons. i am cooling on Walker for that reason. Edge is deep in this draft, DT/NT/DE is probably next. Regardless, Walker is a nice player, just maybe not a great fit. I'd take the CB from Michigan instead of an ILB/OLB hybrid. If we don't re-sign Jackson, CB is a need.
  9. A lot of people think this draft is weak at QB--I think, after the first five picks of the first round, there are a ton of developmental QBs who could develop into the role--here is the psychology behind it--Bryce becomes the mentor--you can learn as much by teaching others than by being taught. It also makes him a true leader. But I think there are a few QB in this draft that might not be ready now, but in 2 years, could be NFL starting QBs--Howard, Rourke, Ewers, Milroe, Dart, etc. Talk about a cheaper backup and one that could evolve into trade capital--or if Bryce can't find consistency-his replacement. Round 3 will have some of these qbs--maybe early day 3.
  10. Sometimes people say things during this time of year to keep from tipping their hands, but I believe Morgan. As I look at the offseason in terms of free agency and the draft, I see any path to acquiring an elite WR as either expensive or awkward. In the draft, taking a WR on days 1 and 2 means you may be overlooking the boatload of talent in areas of need---like edge and DE/DT. There will be good edge / DL players coming off the board in early round 3, in my view. We will probably sign a free agent or two, but that means we may still need to draft a NT, DE, and an Edge player--and from what I can tell, these are your best players if the draft goes like I think it will. If TMac is there, I think you have to take him, but it makes filling the needs at DL, Edge, S, etc. much more difficult. Morgan has a very tough job if you consider the long term--he needs to think about the Bryce contract in two years and not back load or extend too many contracts. Winning in the NFL is more about math than anyone realizes. Morgan wants "dawgs" and this draft has them.
  11. I think the Jayden Daniels success will entice desperate teams--maybe too much of an assumption and generalization, but I am confident that Ward and Sanders go early--I would also point out that in the days of Portal, you get to see QBs in different systems--when Bo Nix was at Oregon, I had a low opinion of him from his Auburn days. On the other hand, if a QB can demonstrate adaptability and make a transition work, scouts have more to work with--I am just waiting to see how this new generation of college players is evaluated. (Does that make sense?)
  12. I think, after Carter, I would like Green. I also think Pearce is better than advertised right now. Green seems to be a better "all around" edge player. Good against the run, pass, etc. Carter, Green, Pearce--first round; Sawyer is my preference for round 2. Love him.
  13. I have read various perspectives, some with Sanders going mid round, but I think there will be 2 QBs going in the top 5. With the exception of the Kenny Pickett year, most years QBs creep up boards the closer we get to April. This is going to sound crazy, but I could see will Howard going in round 1. How you perform on the biggest stage carries a lot of weight. Depending on what Rodgers decides in his Oregon black hole of meditation, it is possible that only Jax and NE (picking before us) do not need a QB--five of seven teams. How do you not take Sanders if he is sitting there? Someone will bite. Furthermore, Jalen Milroe reminds me of Anthony Richardson who was drafted fairly early, and Quinn Ewers reminds me of Bo Nix. All it takes is one team (see Pickett, Kenny). Howard's stock is about to explode--I think he goes round 1--I could see a team like the Raiders, Colts, or Steelers taking Howard. Once the chips start getting pushed to the center of the table, people will overpay.
  14. I have bestowed upon you my perspectives to your very valid points in BOLD. Good post.
  15. I agree, but I have a different spin--Tuttle can free 6.5m as a post June 1 cut--I think the draft has a very nice selection of DTs in the first three rounds....
  16. Sawyer is not worth 22.. He is benefiting from the NFL superstars who are white and play LDE--Bosa, Crosby, Watt--etc. And he made a good play last week. I do niot see much of difference/dropoff with his teammate, JT Tuimoloau. I am starting to warm up to Jalon Walker as a LB who can pressure the passer as an edge. Get creative.
  17. However, here is what we learned from that situation--find players that are in other systems that do not support their skill sets=--for example, are there zone CBs playing in systems that run a lot of man, making them seem less effective? Are there OLBs that do a good job holding the edge and getting pressures but they have only 4 sacks, for example? Lets not forget that is how we got Luvu. We should be scouting these free agents in detail-- Let us not dismiss the Tepper effect on free agency as well. Who wants to leave? Who wants to be here?
  18. I hear the Panthers are looking for a #1. I just do not see that player being available. TMc in the draft is the best option. Trading picks or players is not. We need so much more than WR. I think the thing to do is to work XL's ass off this offseason, keep Coker developing, and know that Theilen is coming back. Draft a solid WR, sign a solid WR. I just think the way Coker is developing and the raw skills XL has, we could be better off developing our current rookies and bringing in other WRs. Save the $25m---that is just me. We need multiple safeties, defensive linemen, a CB or two, OL, backup QB, RB, TE, Edge, LB, etc.
  19. And he did not play the entire season. (about 10-11 games or so) Do the math. His stats would haven been higher if you added 6 games--projecting him to about a 750-800 yard WR. He was on the field for less than half of the offensive snaps.
  20. I see this...so much harder to fill all the needs before free agency--so you have to enter the draft looking at 3 maybe 4. Hunter-no brainer,. Tuimoloau--love him, probably better than Sawyer, but not as well known, Higgins--will be a good pro in time, Wilson--I would have probably picked between T and C here--depth and competition in both cases. Rourke--gonna be a pro starter in 3 years; mark my words--Briningstool is a solid TE--overlooked in Clemson; and Collins is a steal at 228. Good draft.
  21. Lotta moving parts, that is for sure. They will have to make tough decisions. Morgan needs to have a plan, but we need to focus on the core--that is why I think players like Shaq, Clowney, Wonnum, Dalton, and maybe even Moton could be in trouble. Let's face it, none will be around when the Panthers are competing for the Lombardi--maybe a naive approach, but these vets are expensive. Morgan better have a long-term plan. I remember around 2008/9 or so, when Marty Hurney had something like $70m in cap room and he re-signed a bunch of his former draft picks on the team that just went 2-14. He bragged that some of his picks were the highest paid at their position in the NFL. Then a year or two later, we had the Jerry Richardson "pie chart" presser--I nearly dropped my fanhood.
  22. Great points--the Cowboys are as close to reality TV as I have seen, and that seems fine with Jerry. He wants to win, but I wonder if the distractions are just to keep people watching.
  23. Where he is from, it takes 2 people to eat a dead squirrel or possum--one eats while the other watches for cars. I'll be here all week.
  24. but you are lovable--and that counts for something.
  25. If you watch much ESPN and NFL network, you would think they spend 25% of coverage on one team--Dallas. Even during the draft, Jerry takes the full time on the clock when nobody is on the phones. He sets up his draft room like some dictator's banquet hall. He does stuff to get his team on TV--in other words. Now, Deion put Colorado on the map and he dominated the headlines in college football for a team in the top 20--barely. He is not a great coach; he recruited through the portal and talked 25 players or so to transfer. For Jerry, it is not about the game of football; it is about the show of football. Yes, he'd like to win, but his ego gets in the way. If he lucks out and this move is successful, he looks like a genius--if it fails, he blames his coach. I think Jones would do this--
