Amazing hindsight--it was all for fun--but if you think about it, I proved that my long shot prognosis was wrong--not feeling too bad about it. I guess the bigger question is, what did your response to this prove about you? Seriously, Morgan could have gotten more--but we got him for nothing too--maybe this guy is a locker room cancer--I dunno.
-
Here is what I think I saw: He still bails too soon. When he completes a pass downfield, you can almost see 300 lbs of pressure fly off his back--until the next bad play. Slants are usually based on pre-snap reads and the rest is timing. His screens were predetermined and frequent. Reading the defense? That is when I see him scrambling in a good pocket. He has good plays as often as good QBs have bad plays.
-
Seriously--there are other teams who could take a shot at him. LA Chargers are in the mix, and someone mentioned Detroit---that is a good option as well. Detroit does not have the fire power to beat KC now, but Johnson would put them in the conversation. Washington is another possibility. I am not thinking we get more than a fourth or fifth in these scenarios. Another idea someone mentioned was that Jones packages a deal for Hubbard and Johnson. If he talks to their agents and learns that he could sign them both to extensions/new contracts, then if I were Jones, that is what I would do. Gonna be interesting.

And that team is Dallas.

Well, when you are talking about Jerry Jones, are you really going to play the logic card? We shall see--and it is a long shot but we who stick our necks out get that there will always be criticism from safe zones--but Jones is going to be desperate and there are few WRs he can pursue who are on the block, have Johnson's skills, and low salary. I can't imagine any other WR right now checking those boxes. Now, since he went all in with some contracts, he is cap strapped, and at 3-4, he is desperate. Would a third rounder be a lot? Yes--a ton--but any negotiator looks at the situation and if Jerry comes shopping, he will pay a premium price--Morgan will know what is in the pot and what cards Jones is holding. Comparing this deal to other deals is discounting the situation. If I am Jones, I would give up a third to save a season in which I am otherwise fully invested.

Yes. Johnson's only value at this time is to trade; after November 5, he is worthless (even if he goes over 1000 yards and we go 2-15.) If you think about Pittsburgh and Tomlin, they do not pay talented WRs who are locker room cancers to hang around. His value right now lies in the fact that he is a top level talent who can be had on the cheap for a playoff run with 10 games left in the regular season. His value is higher now that it would be in August or March. In fact, whoever gets him is not obligated to keep him--so there is no real buyer's remorse. After seeing his Cowboys fall short to SF when Lamb was all they had to throw to with no running game, I think 80-year old "All In" Jones might think a third rounder is well worth the boost his offense would get this year. How many "A" level WRs are there with a price tag of $3m? It is a seller's market.
-
that is the rumored asking price. I do like the idea of packaging Hubbard and getting a second. I love Hubbard, but he is in a contract year (I believe) and we need to spend our money on a position not called "running back". Brooks will be ready and Sanders' contract aint moving. Here are variables to support the reasons Jones might bite-- His age (how many seasons does Jones have left?) His gamble this season (He already shoved all chips to the pot) His ego (he emptied his wallet and he is his own GM--face saving is worth a third) His salary cap (eliminates all expensive options) So if you consider the variables, a $1 bottle of water is worth $2 in the desert.

As I know because I am considered by many police detectives to be my town's most insightful psychotic, many people seek my opinions on stuff. So here are the tea leaves: 1. Johnson has a history of being a bit of a head case, which led to Panthers getting him on the cheap. His contract for this season is a bargain. 2. Johnson (Last week) criticized teammates. 3. The Panthers sat Johnson vs. Broncos. Could this be a sign that a deal is in the works or that the Panthers do not want to risk losing a trade asset to a season-ending injury? Johnson's value is that of a healthy, cheap addition to a team that needs a WR to help their playoff rush. 4. Rumors swirl that the Cowboys might trade for Johnson; word is there is other interest, and the Cowboys were told that it would take a "mid round" pick to get him (rumor). 5. Jerry Jones went "all in" this season. He just watched his team lose to a Super Bowl team because Prescott was forced to focus on one WR. They are now 3-4, and Jones is old. In my view, the asking price for Johnson just went up to a third rounder. Here are the receiving stats from last night's game: Johnson might be the only feasible answer for Jones. I expect a deal by Tuesday. The Huddle Psychotic has spoken!!! Disclaimer: Every time I jokingly call myself a psychotic (meaning psychic) I get someone who fails to see the humor in my phrasing. I get it. You are smart--you caught it. Now, lets enjoy the magic of my clairvoyance and bask in the radiance of my amazing visions into the spheres of obviousness.

If Legette is playing like a #1 by the end of the season, it would help, but I am not sure he is more than a #2 and Coker would be a very solid slot--so you could be right---problem I have with that is no legit #1 is coming here in free agency and we should go QB and Edge in the draft---we shall see. I mean, you may not need an Alpha if you have three Betas.
-
I think Canales will be fine if they stay with him--injuries + lack of talent does not scream for an new coach. Tepper needs to identify the central problem and stop blaming the symptoms of that problem.
-
There are several rookies who were drafted 6 months ago who are playing better and improving--Nix, for one. I am sorry--he sucks and has lost the respect of his team (body language). DId you see Horn cursing out Sean Payton? Probably knew him back when his dad played for him--but that is the frustration the whole team carries when they are busting their asses while a guy making $10m per year learns how to play. The sub par play hurts these players' abilities to sign bigger second contracts. It matters.
-
He has to far to go---he is not confident--he throws too late, he runs from ghosts when he has a pocket. I think he throws to the sidelines because he can see the WRs/TEs etc. He did well late when they stopped blitzing--he is not good. What killed me was the quote the sideline reporter provided when she was talking about how he wants to stay here---he said he likes his teammates and he is having fun... FUN?
-
The thing about Coker--he catches it when he is targeted most of the time--the only time he doesn't is when the QB throws a bad ball. I think Legette and Coker can be the dynamic duo next year--need a #3 and maybe a #4--if we can get a third or fourth rounder for Johnson....
-
Some huddlers were screaming for him before we signed him. You know, the coach's ability to recognize talent is alarming--You keep Mingo and put Coker on the PS...How much do you need to see? Moore has also been solid--as a #5 WR.
-
I thought we'd never see Bryce again. Not in Carolina....
-
Bryce is so bad, we need to fire Fitterer again....or take him hunting with us and oops.
-
he delays on purpose....He could snap with 5 seconds to go, then he goes up to the LOS and barks commands, and from the reaction of the center, he is identifying the Mike LB---with 4 seconds on the play clock--and the OL already knows who the Mike is. I think he is trying to reduce the number of plays he has to QB-
-
If i was Denver, I would play my safeties five yards off the ball and 10 yards inside the sideline. If you think route tree, we are throwing no passes above a 4:
-
I mean, its possible, just convenient for us conspiracy theorists.
-
Yes--this is what I mean.
-
Not reading 6 pages of witty yet appropriate anti-Bryce one liners--so excuse me if this is this thread, but am I being biased or skeptical when I question how one sprains a thumb in a car accident? Never heard of that happening. It sounds like they want to start him again to see how he is fermenting, but without a reason, it makes them look wishy washy. Who's with me!!!!???

Dan Graziano: Panthers will trade Diontae Johnson
MHS831 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
He has a limited body of work, but 8 receptions in three games in the rotation on 8 targets--that is promising. That is about an average of 36+ yards per game---over 17 games, that would be over 600 yards--with bad QB play, I'll take it. But he has not established himself by any means, but he has done all he can do. -

Lotta WRs got hurt last week. I expect there to be some offers. -

I thought I read that he recently criticized his teammates for not doing their jobs--that was probably to encourage a trade--what does he have to lose? Now watch him get injured Sunday. I think we could get a day 2 pick for him -
