  1. I went back 20 years just to reflect, here it is. Something happened around that red line. I can't remember what, but I feel like it changed the franchise.
  2. When Wilks took over as HC he promoted Al Holcomb to DC. Holcomb struggled and Wilks had to babysit him. We also only had like 3 position coaches on the whole team. With Ben McAdoo pretty much doing everything on Offense. Wilks took over as DC in 2017 after McDermott took the Buffalo job. Defense finished 7th I think that year. For what it's worth his Defense in San Francisco finished 3rd last year and Shanahan still fired him.
  3. Thats why I support the Journeyman and Day 2 QB combo. You can build your team until you have your guy. And who knows, one of those could turn out to your guy in the process.
  4. Only downside is then you get nothing. Now, there is plenty of time when he's on a 5th year and Franchise tag, etc to bridge that gap though.
  5. If I had to pick a Day 2 or Day 3 guy at QB it would be Kurtis Rourke or Haynes King.
  6. I bring you Will Campbell, projected Top 10 pick.
  7. I really just want Young gone after this season. I don't think I can take another year of everyone pretending he isn't horrible and getting excited when he has a 185 yard game. I would rather take a Journeyman and a 2nd Rounder than deal with this another year.
  8. Yeah it’s very unlikely. I think he may get a job in the NCAA somewhere.
  9. I would. He isn't a dependable LT. He would be a Pro Bowl Guard but he just doesn't have the agility to keep up with some of these Edge Rushers. You really don't want to pay this guy LT money for a job he is "okay" at. He isn't going to want to move to G because the market isn't as high. We also have 2 really expensives Gs right now. I'm surprised they haven't tried moving Lewis to C, he has played there before, would allow you to move Ekwonu to LG.
  10. My top 3 are: Robert Saleh Lovie Smith Leslie Frazier However realistically I think the Top 3 are: Ken Norton Jr. Aaron Curry Kacy Rodgers Norton did a better job than Clint Hurtt in his time as DC in Seattle. He at least had a Top 10 unit a few times. Curry is a promising candidate and has a lot of upside. I think Kacy Rodgers is underestimated as well. He has developed a lot of young players and the one spot on Tampa's D that hasn't fallen backwards is their DL/Run D.
  11. I think he can be a good WR. I wouldn't exactly make him my #1 plan in 2025 though.
  12. 1st fumble killed the momentum. Getting the ball back and scoring on the deep pass re-energized us. Fumbling on the opening drive of the 3rd killed us and what is left of the defense quit. Canales tried running the ball. Dallas stacked the line Coker beat them deep Dallas started switching up stunts Bryce got confused on his protections Bryce starts getting hit and turns ball over Panthers D quits Dumbass falls back into melancholy mode and starts dinking/dunking again. If you go back and look at some of the replays, a lot of the pass protections are on Bryce not recognizing it and adjusting at the line. Same reason he got benched in week 2.
  13. We ran a ton with Dalton if you remember. Canales' offense is actually built around play action. Dave didn't run it more because it takes longer to develop and the pass rushers get there before throwing lanes can develop for Bryce to see. You can see this everytime he gets pressured he sprints out of the pocket to reset rather than stepping into it or resetting- not only is he being chased, his view is more obstructed than somebody like Dalton, Darnold, Cam, etc. PJ Walker used to do this too.
  14. You can also add Sean Desai to the list. He only overlapped with Canales one season in Seattle (2022). He was the Bears DC in 2021 and Eagles in 2023. Despite having the 10th ranked Defense in Philly last year, he was fired and replaced with Fangio. He's currently a Senior Assistant/Advisor for the Rams.
  15. The TB fans always said that when Dave panics he starts throwing the ball everywhere. You can see that at times especially early in the year. It doesn't help our run game that our QB can't throw the ball deep. Defenses play up a lot with Bryce and that hurts our run game.
  16. I mean we all know he's leaving. Here are a few names I have been kicking around recently. Let me know your thoughts or anyone else that could be in the mix. Seattle Connections: Robert Saleh: Has history with Morgan/Canales in Seattle. Marquand Manuel: Safeties coach for the Jets and former Panthers player. Also spent time in Seattle with Morgan and Canales. Ken Norton Jr: Spent time with Morgan and Canales in Seattle. Currently the LBs coach in Washington. Was Seattle's coordinator from 2018-2021 and did a pretty bad job. Andre Curtis: Safeties coach for Bears. Spent 7 years in Seattle. Tommy Donatell: Washington's DBs coach; spent time in Seattle. Previously worked for Staley in LA. Aaron Curry: Former player. Worked in Seattle from 19-22. Currently the LBs coach for the Steelers which are 6th in total defense. Also an NC native and Wake Forest Grad. Clint Hurtt: Current DL coach for the Eagles. Spent 6 years in Seattle and was the DC in 2022-2023. Buffalo Connections: Leslie Frazier: Spent time in Buffalo with Morgan. Currently AHC in Seattle. But word from Seattle fans is they are expecting to lose him if he gets another DC offer. Tampa Bay Connections: Kacy Rodgers: Tampa's Defense is struggling this year but the run D is ranked 10th and getting better each week. Rodgers has followed Bowels most of his career. He is currently the DL Coach/Run Game Coordinator and knows most of the offensive staff. Other Candidates: Matt Eberflus: No real history with Morgan or Canales but would be a good project for him to redeem himself. Was a good coordinator in Indianapolis before taking the Bears HC job. Brendan Daly: Chiefs LB Coach, been with KC for 6 years. Would have a connection with Tillis. Spent a lot of time in New England with Belichick. However, he doesn't seem to be very popular with Chief fans. Joe Cullen: Defensive Line coach for KC. Would also have a connection with Tillis. KC's defense is 3rd against the run. Patrick Graham: DC for the Raiders since 2022. His stock has went down the last few years but at one time was a HC candidate. Pierce isn't fired yet but it seems inevitable. Jim Schwartz: Very experienced coordinator who is currently with the Browns. Also was DC for the Eagles and HC for the Lions. Should Stefanski get the boot, he could be job searching. Ryan Slowik: Bobby Slowik's brother. Currently the DBs coach and Pass Game Specialist for the Dolphins. Has a reputation for shutting down the pass and creative pass rush schemes. Unlikely...but eh maybe: Pete Carroll: Very unlikely, but he is Dave's mentor and his son (Nate Carroll) is the Passing Game Coordinator for us. Lovie Smith: Retired; but definitely an experienced HC and DC. Dennis Allen: Former Saints DC and HC. I think Allen would quit football before he came here but a reunion with Payton wouldn't be at DC since Vance Joseph has been doing such a stellar job. Mike Vrabel: Will probably have his hand in one of the many HC openings. Interviewed for HC last season. Was rumored then he has friends in the front office. Currently an assistant with the Browns. Steve Wilks: No need to explain his background. Was the scapegoat in San Francisco last year. People here have mixed feelings on him. Right now, he is serving as a volunteer advisor for UNC-Charlotte. My guess is Tepper will want a big name, Canales will want somebody he knows, and Morgan will want somebody gritty. Saleh is the only one that matches all 3. I don't see him coming here though, I think he will go back to SF or land somewhere like LAR when/if they can their guy.
  17. Rewatch the Chargers game from Week 2. But add a blown coverage TD to Coker that everyone thinks made up for Bryce turning the ball over 4 times. He dropped the ball everytime a hand touched him.
  18. I agree. Evero took credit for a very good defense that was left for him. Last year the defense was horrible except for yards, but that was hidden by the terrible field position the offense was delivering each drive. Saleh would be perfect. I also wouldn't mind Eberflus, he was a bad HC but good coordinator in Indy.
  19. I have confidence Morgan will fix the Defense. Most of his picks are turning out positive and for the most part, he greatly improved a consistently terrible OL.
  20. At this point in his career, Dalton is a Mid-Level Back-Up. Bryce can't even out perform him, how is he the future?
  21. Canales is trying to run a team full of misfits that couldn't get jobs anywhere else and a QB with the same arm talent as me.
  22. True, but he's kinda had a bad career. I've watched the Huddle tear apart much better QBs for much less.
