He's doing better when we run the ball more. He looked much better under Wilkes his rookie year because we were running the ball and he was getting leverage on the play action. He looked terrible last year because we were dropping back out of the gun 35 times per game and he's not built for that. He's a solid guard in a pass heavy/spread scheme, and a solid tackle in a running/play action team.
-
Okay let's say he was. It doesn't make the situation any better.
-
I'm just saying, he was supposed to be this guy that could make up for talent with his scheming and it's not happening. Sam Darnold carved him up when he was Denver's DC in 2022 and then Payton didn't bring him back. Look at Denver's defense this year and look at ours. And FYI Derrick Brown was active for the Saints game that allowed 47 points. Luvu, maybe? but Burns/Chinn aren't hitting on much this year.

I could be wrong, but if I remember during his press conferences they asked before Evero was hired and he said something like "We don't know type of Defensive yet, I'm leaning towards a 3-4 but we'll see." It could have been the front office too, because there was a lot of hype about trying to put Burns in a 3-4 so he could "dominate" which really just exposed him more than anything.

I wouldn't be shocked with Evero getting the boot at the end of the year. Some of it was his fault, some wasn't. However, in the big picture the little bit of defensive success last year was with what Snow built. The defense last year if I recall was ranked "2nd" but only in yards and was pretty horrendous everywhere else. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Panthers in a 4-3 scheme next year. Morgan played in a 4-3 and both front offices he was in (Buffalo/Seattle) were 4-3. Just about everywhere Canales has been also had a 4-3 defense. Rhule ran a 3-3-5 with snow that gave a bunch of different looks, Reich was the one that wanted the 3-4 and it lined up with Evero being available. Our defense is made up of short contracts and is mixed with 3-4 and 4-3 personnel, end of season would be ideal to switch. Plus, I'd love to see Trevin Wallace play WLB like Davis used to.

I had our ceiling at 6-10 and floor at 2-14. After the Raiders game, I thought we were trending closer to the ceiling but appears we may miss 2-14 because the only other winnable game on the roster is the Giants and they just won in Seattle this week.

Top 3 pick incoming. Brace yourselves for another top talent miss.

We have been at the top since we hired Rhule's Strength and Conditioning coach in 2020 who is still there.

Okay 2 concussions 2 hurt before joining the team. What about the other 14?

Travis Hunter hype thread
ProcessBlue2 replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
I would thoroughly enjoy drafting Mason Graham and putting him with A'Shawn Robinson and Derrick Brown as a start to stop this horrible run D. -
The UDFA Rookie Back-Up center is in concussion protocol, I believe. Would mean Christensen takes the snaps, but he may have to fill in for Moton who is also injured. Possibly put Nijman at RT and continue with Christensen at C.

Scouting Department vs. Front Office
ProcessBlue2 replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
In years past, our pro scouts always missed on Free Agents. I think the pro scouts are more effective now, we have had some FA hits the last few years but our rookie scouts seem to miss quite often. How much of that is the executive decision by the front office? Idk. I'm not a Tepper apologist but even IF he is the guy pulling the trigger in the draft, you have to wonder who is giving him the scouting reports. To be fair, our scouting dept was going downhill before Tepper too. -
He's the only one that has speed as a factor. The rest are bull rush type guys.
-
This isn't a giant upgrade but he is more solid than Charles Harris and DJ Johnson. He'll be starting opposite Clowney in a few weeks.

Panthers 26 Bears 21 But we get our ass kicked next week.

Really man? Dead bodies hanging in trees, people's family & friends missing, folks starving, kids running around looking for their parents, towns deleted off the map, morgues overwhelmed, and you have to inject your politics into the discussion because you're so deranged from a President 4 years ago, that you can't help yourself? I'm not even a fan of the guy, but damn with the politics.

I have heard them all this week. *The hurricane was steered this direction on purpose *The land is going to be seized the land for quartz/lithium *It's an effort to keep Asheville turnout low during the election. *It's an effort to keep red county turnout around Asheville low this election. Fact is at least to me, it's a 100 year event. Everyone was very unprepared, the response was terrible, and Appalachia once again gets neglected and everyone is looking for somebody to blame. I have heard some absolute horror stories that I won't share out of respect. If they are true, this event is significantly worse than being portrayed.

I like the idea of tracking this.
