Lost Game 4 in OT after losing the 3-1 lead the Wolves had in the 3rd period with 15 minutes left. I don't know what's up with Kochetkov- he looked better playing for the Canes than he does against AHL players. One of the goals he gave up last night was while trying the play the puck behind the net and got caught in the forecheck traffic- was basically an empty-netter for Stockton. Just some very sloppy play. Back to back game tonight in Stockton (9PM Eastern). Lyon will probably be in net.

Panthers terminating Rock Hill project agreements

First and foremost, it is and will remain private property. Therefore, any issues the city has with respect to zoning, ordinance or nuisance violations have to be addressed with a legal notice. At some point, the city could view this as an eyesore which is having an adverse effect upon property values (which is a fairly catch-all and generic, but often used phrase, in municipal, county and state ordinances and statutes). They can then demand the property owner take action to mitigate the violation and, if there is no compliance, the city could, theoretically, demolish the place. Not that any of this will happen, but, by the book, that's how it works. -
Use the link to read the article (it's pretty good).: https://theathletic.com/3352949/2022/06/07/hurricanes-trocheck-niederreiter-mailbag/ Barenaked Ladies voice: Yiiiiiit’s been … OK, sorry, this is serious. It’s been one week and one day since the Hurricanes lost to the Rangers in Game 7 of the second round. The team thought it was destined for something more, and the disappointment was palpable. There are many, many questions that need to be answered this summer, and The Athletic’s subscribers raised many of them in our latest call for mail. Is this the ceiling for this team in its current state? What does the front office need to address in the offseason? What do other teams have that the Canes are missing?

https://www.canescountry.com/2022/6/8/23159733/obviously-i-would-like-to-stay-canes-brass-should-prioritize-niederreiter-deal Use the link if you want to read the whole article: When Don Waddell and company made a trade to deal Victor Rask to the Minnesota Wild back in January of 2019, they struck gold in a way that nobody really saw coming. Back to Carolina in the deal was Nino Niederreiter, who instantly boosted his play and became a game changer for the Hurricanes as he and the team went on to make four straight playoff appearances for the first time since relocation. In 2019 after getting traded, Niederreiter posted 14 goals and 30 points in just 36 games for the Canes. Both of those goals greatly exceeded his 46-game total with Minnesota that year. After a bit of regression in 2019-20, Niederreiter posted 34 points in 56 games in 2021 before tallying 44 points in 75 games this past season. In this year’s postseason, Niederreiter scored four goals for the Canes, tied for second most on the team behind only Vincent Trocheck. He played all year, and all playoffs, alongside Jordan Staal and Jesper Fast as a key piece of Carolina’s most consistent two-way line, the most reliable group the Canes put on the ice come May. “A big part is that we’ve all been in the league for quite some time,” Staal said. “We all know what to expect from one another. We all know what it takes every day to come in and go to work. We talked a lot on the ice about what we could do to do better. We had to remind ourselves not just to shut the other top line down but to produce. That mindset helps.” But now, Niederreiter’s contract in Carolina is up, as he heads into unrestricted free agency looking to cash in on some of the success that he has had with the Hurricanes over the last three and a half seasons. As for Niederreiter, he wants to be back with the Canes. “Obviously I would like to stay here,” Niederreiter said. “I enjoy the group. I love living down here. The fans are great. But at the end of the day, it’s not really just on me.”

What is it with Lyon? He was terrible in Game 1, albeit a win. Was good last night. Guess Warsofsky is alternating goalies with Pyotr and Lyon. Gotta shoot to win. Wolves had but 5 shots in the first, but picked up the pace in the second.
-
I think Chatfield is up regardless. Remember Smith and Cole will both likely be gone and I'm not sure Jake Gardiner matters anymore, he's been out so long.
-
Drury scored 17 seconds into the game and Leivo scores with 17 ticks left on the clock. On another note... Chicago's D needs to get its act together. Allowing 35 shots is too much and Kochetkov gave up one and a fluke. And Chatfield made a ridiculous save with Pyotr out of position.

Josh Leivo scores game winner with 18 seconds left. Series at 2-0 Chicago.

But we continue to see the stories about how Tiger Woods father did the same fugging thing as these parents do and he succeeded. Same with Venus and Serena Williams and a few other exceptionally talented athletes. And while society and the sports world idolizes and worships the athletes, for every one of them, there are likely hundreds of nightmares out there... Todd Marinovich, Eric Lindros, Andre Agassi, Roy Jones, Jr., Jennifer Capriati, Mary Pierce.....

I copied just a portion of the article here, but I'm not sure the front office and RBA have the patience to keep waiting on Necas to break out. He was drafted in 2017 and 5 years later the Canes are still waiting to see just who they drafted. I have to admit I agree with a lot of what's said- all kinds of speed and puck handling skills, but his reluctance to shoot and his complete lack of a physical game are cause for concern. I can't tell you how many times I found myself shouting at the TV for him to shoot the damn puck. https://www.newsobserver.com/sports/nhl/carolina-hurricanes/article262146767.html The Carolina Hurricanes might be looking to add a scoring forward before next season, someone who can produce, say, 25 or more goals, be a finisher and put some pop in the lineup. It could come from a trade. It could come in free agency. But what if that player already is on the roster? Martin Necas is a likable guy with an agreeable demeanor. That’s off the ice. On it, Necas’ critics say he’s not mean enough, a player with tons of speed and skill but one unwilling to do the dirty work in tough places. When the 2021-22 season began, many believed Necas might have a breakout year. He was entering his third full NHL season and in the third year of his entry-level contract. He had scored 14 goals and had 41 points in 53 games in the condensed 2020-21 season, and something like a 60-point year with 20-plus goals seemed attainable for the Czechia native. Didn’t happen. “For me personally, it was like a step back from the last season,” Necas said this week. Necas had 14 goals and 40 points in 78 games, and probably got as much attention for playing a golf round with singer Harry Styles before the season as he did for his play during the season. Including the 14 playoff games, he scored once in his last 30 games — the regular-season finale against New Jersey. Necas had five assists in the playoffs as the Canes fell in the second round to the New York Rangers, and was so ineffective at times there was speculation he might be scratched. “Obviously it was a disappointing season for me,” Necas said. “I just couldn’t get into it. I’ve got to help the team more, got to produce way more. That’s what everyone kind of expects from me, and I didn’t do it.”

Let's not forget the Canes beat NY 3 out of 4 times during the regular season and the one loss was a shutout by Georgiev (backup goalie). That being said and in keeping with the thoughts posted, one need only look at the ridiculous disparity of penalties called on the Rangers vs anyone else they play and realize that's why they are where they are. They have a very good power play and they get more of them than anyone else.
-
By the way... Alex Lyon is a really bad goalie.
-
I'll try to catch all of them if that happens... or I'll save them.
-
Never mind, I got the AHL TV app, but the playoff package is $30 and looking at the schedule I'll probably miss at least 3 games this series... YouTube highlights will have to do it for me...

I tend to believe this is a lot of legal and financial tap-dancing that will allow everyone to get their place at the table and the projects gets finished sooner or later. -

I know business property owners in my city who have a different LLC for each property they own, thereby protecting all their other properties if one tanks. Matter of fact I was doing some title work yesterday for a local commercial building owner who has 6 buildings downtown, and for each of them the property owner is the address LLC, for example, "123 Main St., LLC." There's no limit to the number of LLCs you can create and they're all separate entities. -

Hi there, I'm the code enforcement administrator for a mid-size municipality here in NC. Every city and town in the state has a set of local ordinances that regulate everything from grass height to noise ordinances to public nuisances to parking to nuisance vehicles. It's called zoning, planning, code enforcement, etc. I'm the guy responsible for ensuring the proper legal notices are issued and nuisance abatement by our contractors is done properly and providing all the information to the accounting folks so they can properly bill the property owner. I have 5 inspectors who each have an assigned area within the city and they issue notices on a daily basis for this kind of crap. -

Well, if the parcel is owned by same real estate holding company that's filing bankruptcy, the city will have to initiate a legal notice ordering the property owner to remove it as a public nuisance. And because of the bankruptcy, the property owner probably won't comply with the order to remove it, so it will fall on the shoulders of the taxpayers as the city will have to contract someone to tear it down. The cost of the tear down then becomes due and payable by the property owner to the city and if that bill isn't paid, it becomes a lien against the property. The city then goes to court with a lien foreclosure on the property and takes ownership of it. -

I'd bet they don't make a decision on Gardiner until they figure out TDA, Bear, Cole and Smith. They get TDA and Bear signed, they can afford to buy out Gardiner and pick up a couple blue liners to fill out the roster. Cole and Smith are both 33 and will not likely be back. -

My sleeper left wing: Mason Marchment, Florida Panthers. 47 points in 54 games this season at a $800k salary. -

If the Canes decided to make this move, it would mean letting both Trocheck and Domi walk. Although Trocheck I think will get a nice payday elsewhere regardless, Domi is a better C then a winger. This could either backfire big time or make a very nice #2 line. It also means the Canes would have a little wiggle room to sign a FA winger, which is a little cheaper than a center. The Canes projected cap space today is a little over $19k. -
I was still on active duty serving with Carrier Group Seven out of San Diego when the original was filmed. Let's just say Mr. Cruise, at the time, was pretty much a dick. He rode his motorcycle around the base at Miramar and was pulled a few times for speeding (most bases are posted 25 & 35 everywhere). Some of the carrier scenes the ship had to maneuver to catch the sun just right for the shot or get the wind in a certain direction... I was still competing in triathlons at the time and I would ride by the house they used for Kelly McGillis's character. It was moved down the block from where it was built to make room for a beachfront promenade, but here's a pre-move story: I was in San Diego just 2 weeks ago to see my father and I took my wife to see the other famous location- where the Top Gun CO lived, which is the Coast Guard San Diego Lighthouse property: This is where it is on Point Loma:
