  1. Your second challenge: Spell the word "moderator."
  2. The Mod Birther Movement is alive! I wanna see Arsen's birth certificate!
  3. Again, if a player is not under contract to any team, is he a member of the NFL? How do you suspend a player who isn't a member of any team? Seems to me if I'm not under contract to any team, I'm not part of the NFL and therefore, not able to be punished by an organization of which I'm not a member.
  4. On March 10, Greg Hardy will no longer be under contract to anyone in the league. If the league announces a suspension before he signs a contract, how does the league suspend someone who is not technically a player in the league? On the other hand, what team is going to enter into any contract negotiations without knowing what the league may/will impose with respect to further discipline? Seems to me the league has to make the first move here and I'm not sure how they can suspend or take any other disciplinary action against a player who isn't under contract to anyone and is, for all intents and purposes, not even a part of the league until he signs a contract.
  5. Maybe he showed up a few times and was then asked/recommended/advised against it? It's all in the timing.
  6. Actually it becomes a collusion case wherein the NFL basically got all the owners together and came to an under-the-table agreement to not sign the guy. I seriously doubt the NFL would even try to reach that far.
  7. So, the head coach gets to call shots like this? Ask Gettleman, Richardson, Danny Morrison? I never mentioned the NFL, I mentioned the NFLPA, his agent and representatives of the team as possible parties who thought it might be better if he stayed away.
  8. Hardly. If there was a settlement, more often than not the terms of civil settlements in cases like this are sealed at the request of both parties and the NFL can threaten all they want, at the end of the day they won't get the info unless both parties then go back and petition the same court that sealed the case to unseal it and the judge agrees to it.
  9. And your point is what? Do you actually know: 1. Did someone with the team ask him not to be present? 2. Did his agent tell him he shouldn't be present? 3. Did the NFLPA tell him he shouldn't be around? If not, you're assuming quite a bit. Not to mention it's fairly common practice for players to work out on their own unless they're required to be at team facilities.
  10. Greg Hardy is out of football longer than either Ray Rice or Adrian Peterson... and he wasn't convicted. So, go ahead Hardy haters, try to explain that logic to me.
  11. Can you show us his conviction on paper since it is public record? No? Didn't think so because it does not exist. You need to brush up on North Carolina law. Greg Hardy does not have a conviction on his record for this offense.
  12. Yep... an NFL franchise with an ownership group consisting of several successful billionaire business people and filled to the ceiling with lawyers, consultants and other business people got played by a 26-year old NFL football player. Right.
  13. Poetic justice... in more ways than one....
  14. You've left out the NFLPA and the CBA which have some bearing as well. And what happens when a spiteful employee or a disenfranchised business competitor decides to make an anonymous phone call accusing you of taking indecent liberties with junior employees or your neighbor's kid? You getting fired based on that accusation? After all, it is just an accusation, but it'll still make the papers and your life is ruined.
  15. I'm talking about Hardy simply because his case is pertinent to the discussion in that it has yet to be adjudicated.
  16. What happens if Luke gets a speeding ticket? What if Cam had been cited for wreckless driving in his accident?
  17. Fried or steamed? Brown or white? Long grain or wild?
  18. Who is "they?" According to the NFL Player Personnel Policy, no arrest is necessary for Goodell to act as judge and jury.... NFL Player Personnel Policy Manual: EXEMPT LIST. The Exempt List is a special player status available to clubs only in unusual circumstances. The List includes those players who have been declared by the Commissioner to be temporarily exempt from counting within the Active List limit. Only the Commissioner has the authority to place a player on the Exempt List; clubs have no such authority, and no exemption, regardless of circumstances, is automatic. The Commissioner also has the authority to determine in advance whether a player's time on the Exempt List will be finite or will continue until the Commissioner deems the exemption should be lifted and the player returned to the Active List.
  19. This is an internet message board and, by definition, is rife with people judging others. It only gets even more ironic when those who do the judging and ranting page after page on this topic are also calling out people for becoming "too attached." Best I can understand is a lot of people who claim to be done with Hardy and don't care about his future not with the Panthers are the same people who continue this topic page after page. So, who's "too attached?" Personally, I hope Greg Hardy finds himself throughout this part of his life, if he hasn't already. I hope any future endeavor he pursues is successful, in pro football or wherever.
  20. Well, not really. You get caught messing with a baseball, you get kicked out of the game and suspended a minimum 10 games. But I get your point. 8.02 The pitcher shall not -- (a) (1) Bring his pitching hand in contact with his mouth or lips while in the 18 foot circle surrounding the pitching rubber. EXCEPTION: Provided it is agreed to by both managers, the umpire prior to the start of a game played in cold weather, may permit the pitcher to blow on his hand. PENALTY: For violation of this part of this rule the umpires shall immediately call a ball. However, if the pitch is made and a batter reaches first base on a hit, an error, a hit batsman or otherwise, and no other runner is put out before advancing at least one base, the play shall proceed without reference to the violation. Repeated offenders shall be subject to a fine by the league president. (2) expectorate on the ball, either hand or his glove; (3) rub the ball on his glove, person or clothing; (4) apply a foreign substance of any kind to the ball; (5) deface the ball in any manner; or (6) deliver a ball altered in a manner prescribed by Rule 8.02(a)(2) through (5) or what is called the shine ball, spit ball, mud ball or emery ball. The pitcher is allowed to rub the ball between his bare hands. PENALTY: For violation of any part of Rules 8.02(a)(2) through (6) (a) the pitcher shall be ejected immediately from the game and shall be suspended automatically. In National Association Leagues, the automatic suspension shall be for 10 games. ____________________________________ By the way, Bellichick has never given the time of day to anyone asking questions and we've all seen him stand behind a podium and essentially mumble nothing for years. Now, all of a sudden, you can't shut the guy up? C'mon... As I stated when this became news, it's too late for the Patriots. The die has been cast. There is no good ending for the Patriots. Either they win and everyone (except Pats fans) will call for the "asterisk" because they got this far by cheating., Or the Patriots lose and most people will cheer them for getting what they deserve.
  21. Sorry, nothing else matters at this point. The die has been cast. There are only 2 ways this is going to end: Patriots get beat by Seattle: "the Patriot cheaters got what they deserved." Patriots win Super Bowl: "this Super Bowl should have an asterisk on it because the Patriots cheated to get there." It does not matter how the league moves forward from this, the reality is most fans (which is short for 'fanatics') will always have the seed of doubt.
