No winners tonite with TDA scoring within the 1st 3 minutes.
-
I think Noesen is wasted with Drury and KK. The only true net-front pest on the roster, all of his goals come from inside 6 feet. But it seems like he's not scored at all since dropping him to the 4th line.

Staying with Brady Skjei.

Already Better Than Watching The Carolina Panthers

BY9 may actually have the arm strength to cover some of this size field... -
No Aho takers tonight. No winners tonite.... anywhere. Not fans or the team.
-
Yes. Playing smarter and more responsibly. I thought for sure he had the 1st goal the other night when he came right down Broadway unchecked with speed and rang the post. For some reason I thought he was a couple years older than he is.

Going to miss probably the 1st 2 periods tonite. Nonetheless, I'll take Brady Skjei hammering one from the left dot with a Noesen screen in front of Otto.

Dallas matches up well with the Canes, but Carolina is much, much deeper. Find a way to exploit that advantage. Going to be a tough out, but I think Carolina can pull it off tonite.

2023-2024 General Canes Thread
Anybodyhome replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
Player props following the Florida game. Svech is a power forward in every sense. Anyone besides me notice his PIM are down and he's not taking as many dumb penalties at bad times? Speaking of D, TDA is playing better, more disciplined and responsible hockey now that his playing time has been decreased. Orlov on his off side may be his strength. It certainly gives him more offensive opportunities. He muscled through several Panther players last night and make some key defensive plays. -

Epic game last night. It took about 5 minutes to realize just how physical this one was going to be. The 4-minute PK was unbelievable, and the roof went off PNC when Staal came out of the box. Only to be followed by a standing O for Kochetkov making one huge save after another. Aho's goal with 18.9 after the Panthers goal was wiped off the board for offside? Loudest I've been in PNC since the playoffs of 2019. A huge, playoff-style win and a regular season game that will be hard to beat. I was on the edge of my seat almost the entire game. My ears were still ringing when I got home..... and my drive is almost an hour. ------------------------ Now the bad.... when will leagues in any sport start holding officials accountable for being incompetent, blind or both? For the Canes to have played that game last night and gotten one PP out of the deal is ridiculous. Holding sticks, interference, high sticks... the officials just plainly did not make the calls when they occurred. Martinook got hit with a high stick twice in he 3rd, the second being intentional, Turbo had his head pushed into the ice which sent him to the bench for a couple missed shifts.

I'll be at the game tonight to see Aho score the first...

Foligno's goal was legit and Slavin was all over him. Bedard's tap-in on the PP was on Aho, not Burns. Burns went to the strong side of the net to take Kurashev, who was net-side uncovered. Aho didn't go with Bedard when he went to the net. The third goal (another PP goal)- Pesce went to the boards to play the rebound in the corner off Martin, he never got back to the net to cover Johnson. If anything, Skjei should not have gone up the boards as far as he did above the dots to chase the puck. That left Pesce trying to cover the entire weak side of the ice by himself.

RBA got a challenge to go his way? Been a drought there, too.

A Chicago blue-liner named Vlasic.... Think his nickname is "Pickles?"
-
Goal differential is a tie-breaker somewhere way down the list.

Bunting with the goal from an outstanding assist from Necas.

Staying with Aho tonight against the Blackhawks. True story- I was a huge Blackhawks for many years before paying attention to the Canes. Freddie is just increasing his practice workload as he continues to get ready for a game return. It's not going to happen tonight and may not happen for another few weeks. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Freddie's return is but a 1 period start and maybe build from there. We know Martin is not an everyday starter and Kochetkov has been off since Friday, while Martin worked pretty damn hard against Vegas. I'll wait until the lineups are confirmed, but I have to believe Kochetkov gets the nod tonight.

2023-24 Regular Season(non canes) thread
Anybodyhome replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
I'm not that worried about their team that much, either. But the scenario you suggest of Svech taking on Panarin will only result in penalties for the Canes. NY will get the vast majority of the calls, just like they did today. Playing short-handed against the Rags and refs will be difficult. -

If anyone here think the Canes will be playing the Rags even up.... better look again. The fix was pretty obvious in the stadium game. -

Refs have called 12 penalties in this game. 4 on the Isles in the 3rd period. NHL working on getting the Rags a win. -
Carolina was not good in the 1st, got better in the 2nd and played their best overall defensive period of the season in the 3rd. Anyone wants to watch an elite defensive effort for 20 minutes, just keep last night's 3rd period on your DVR.

Isles are taking care of business against the Rags right now. Can use some help to catch them. -
The officiating was nothing short of garbage last night. Not a single call against Vegas, and they decided early they could start the thuggery without consequence. Pure bullsh!t last night.
