  1. It's not a good thing. Never tip your hand unless you're sure you can't be beaten. Nobody could jump them for a QB last year. That's not the case this year as other teams can jump the Panthers by moving back up into the late 1st round.
  2. In yesterday's locked on Panthers podcast, Council said he's hearing and seen reported the Panthers are locked in on taking a WR with pick 33. And I really hope that's just a smokescreen, especially if the centers drop out of the first round.
  3. Ah. Yeah, that makes more sense. He doesn't have the quickness needed for a top 5 pick.
  4. It's also not fair to expect a guy that's never been able to play center to suddenly get it and be good at the job either. And that's what the Panthers seem to be doing.
  5. Yeah, trying to shoehorn Corbett at center is such a Panthers move. And it failing is even more of a Panthers thing. There doesn't seem to be a of quality centers on the free agent market either. The only real hope the team is going to have is drafting a center and praying they he is an immediate hit. Sadly, they'll most likely miss out on the quality center prospects because of waiting/drafting other needs and have to stick with Corbett.
  6. Corbett hasn't played a snap at center during an NFL game. The only time he's been used at center was in camps and was quickly moved back to guard. The dude is not a center and trying to force him there will not bode well for the offense.
  7. Forget the trades. Stand pat and take the best center, since there isn't one on the roster, and WR available since people got to have play maker. That's unless they have a higher ranked TE over the available WRs, then take the TE..
  8. That's the classic Panthers blunder. Skip out on the draft's strengths.
  9. If they're dumb enough to not see the large hole at center, then this duo's tenure is not going to end well. The team's biggest need is a true center. Corbett will fail hard at center if he can even stay healthy. At this stage, Corbett is a high quality backup guard at best. If fans can see the need at center and Dan & Dave can't, they shouldn't have the jobs they've been given.
  10. I doubt she would leave SC for the Hornets, but I wouldn't object to her being the coach. It isn't like she could be worse than some of the past ones the Hornets have hired.
  11. Yes! Corbett has only ever played center in the NFL during camps. Other teams have shown he's just not a center. If the goal is to give Young the best chance to succeed, leaving center to a guy that has proven he can't play the position is going to hurt Young's chances more than help them. Yeah. Leaving a massive hole at center is the sort of thing the Panthers do.
  12. I get his point that edge is less of a need thanks to free agency than center. The Panthers simply don't have a true center on the roster.
  13. Cliff notes: Points out that 9 of the top 10 centers in the league were drafted by their teams Talks about how the rest of the Oline has been addressed except for center Says it's past time the Panthers should draft a center since they haven't drafted one since Kalil Goes through the list of guys since Kalil that the Panthers have thrown at the position and how they weren't good or failed to stick Says the Panthers do have other needs(WR, Edge, CB, LB, etc) Points out that edge has been addressed in free agency while center has not Says the team might not feel any of the second round edge rushers are alpha type players Thinks the Panthers might not be able to afford to wait until the third round or later to draft a center Says he would ignore edge in the second round since they signed two guys that can start Thinks WR should also be addressed in the second round There's more in the half hour video
  14. Thanks for posting. I still want a center more than any other position. The Panthers don't have one and need somebody that can start there more than they need WRs, DEs, or whatever else. And a guy that couldn't cut it at center for other teams isn't going to magically be a good starting center for the Panthers either.
  15. It only matters if it helps him run routes and make catches. He could already block.
