  1. True, but there are millions that don't have access to high speed internet and streaming that aren't a Nielson family that advertisers want to reach. That's not going to change anytime soon because of corporate greed either.
  2. Traditional TV won't be going anywhere until years after true high speed internet is available in the entire US. And if we keep leaving it up to the incumbent providers, it'll never happen. The cable companies provide internet service, but they want to keep those coaxial lines pumping out cable TV because that is almost all profit at this point. Those lines have been in place for decades in a lot of areas. When these companies take the government money to build out in rural areas, they just build out in new subdivisions and pocket the rest. The same is true for the phone companies. Starlink and the other satellite internet providers have weather issues as well as capacity issues in addition to being expensive. They aren't a good long term solution either. The cell providers don't want to build out enough towers to make 5G work in rural areas. Heck there are still lots of areas where 3G doesn't work.
  3. Yeah, the idea that ratings are dropping is sort of strange. Even the WWE got two 1 billion dollar TV contracts based off their terrible ratings because it is still considered a sport by some and cheap to produce. The TV contracts for the different conferences will keep going up, not down as the networks continue to cling onto their existing business model.
  4. Won't happen. Live sports is one of the only things that still draws ratings. Those TV deals will probably keep growing. For me, I'm glad the women's sports are seeing growth. They work just as hard as male athletes do and in the case of the gymnasts, often work much harder.
  5. College sports isn't dying and not all of the ratings are dropping. The landscape is changing though. Women's college volleyball continues to be one of the fastest growing college sports. Women's college gymnastics is also seeing huge gains.
  6. It might be a bit of an overpay for a rotation guy that can play 2-3 positions, but it's Charlotte. They always have to overpay. Besides, Martin is one of the only guys that really tried on defense last season. I don't mind it, especially since Bridges has done the mess he has.
  7. Could always play McDaniels and Thor at the 3 as well. I'd gladly part with Oubre or Hayward.
  8. With the way these contracts are going, it's going to cost 325 million or more to resign Ball in a couple years.
  9. Hey, that's the Panthers' strategy. Maybe there's something in the water in Charlotte.
  10. Just woke up a little while ago and saw that tweet. I was a big advocate of Bridges getting a huge contract from the Hornets. Now, I think it's best to rescind the offer and let him go even if the charges get dismissed. I can't support someone that does this to their partner/wife/girlfriend/husband/boyfriend.
  11. Yep. Hopefully the woman is alright. I haven't seen much about what happened other than he supposedly got physical, the woman needed medical attention after their argument, and he turned himself in.
  12. I'd only want Kemba back on a vet min deal. He's nearly done at this point.
  13. I can see them bringing Thomas back but not Harrell considering the glut of young bigs that need playing time. I also wouldn't rule out a trade for a backup PG and to get some cap relief. Oubre, Plumlee, Hayward, Rozier, and possibly Bouknight being the most likely to be traded.
  14. Source There are a couple more paragraphs to go along with what I copied.
  15. Meh. McDaniels isn't great and is quite the ballhog at times.
  16. Why would the Hornets say they are giving a restricted free agent a max deal already? That makes zero sense since they can just match any offer Miles gets and will want to keep more cap space available for any other free agents they may want to sign.
  17. Yeah, that trade was one of the worst returns I've seen in some time. And I agree that all the offseason moves so far scream MJ is being cheap. This is concerning but I'm not worried about it being something that runs Ball off. The Hornets are the only team that can give him a supermax deal, which is getting around $225 million currently. When LaMelo's rookie contract is up, supermax contracts will probably be in the $250 million range. I just don't see anyone that qualifies for that kind of money walking away from it nor do I see MJ not giving his star that sort of deal when the time comes. The fans would abandon the team in droves if he did.
  18. I don't mind that they traded the pick. Kai Jones is an extremely similar player that needs playing time. They should have made sure to get a better return in the trade or selected a 3 and D guy. Can't have too many shooters in today's NBA.
  19. This is where I'm at. I'll add it could also have something to do with the assist coaches. Cliff may have been willing to keep them while Mike wasn't. So, MJ being cheap went with the Big Red Dog.
  20. I think he will play the rookie. Williams is everything he wanted when he was here the first time. Clifford is not smarter than everyone else. That's just a BS statement.
