  1. Don't wear socks with sandals or slip ons or flip flops. Looks bizarre to me but my kids wear them and think it is fine.
  2. Crocs sweat my feet. They arent very durable and retain foot stank. No thanks. As he slowly slinks away wearing his baby boomers new balance sneakers.
  3. If you listen to the whole interview it is clear that the key word is competition to bring out the best in everyone. So he was saying he isn't picking someone as the starter going into camp but letting them determine the starter based on their play in practice and games in preseason. I didn't think it was that ambiguous. But that's me....
  4. Julio had some of his biggest games against us. He might be old and slow but we still need to give him his due and guard him closely. With Brady as QB it makes any receiver dangerous.
  5. Everyone expects Baker to be a bust or boom. I think he will help us get to 9-8 which would be excellent. Then let him play another year in the same system and see if we improve. He isn't a top tier qb yet but he is still young and has a lot to learn. I figure that Rhule and his process is actually exactly what Baker needs. If he buys in he can be here a while and become the franchise guy for us. Or a one year rental if he doesn't.
  6. I agree that they couldn't hand over the reins to Darnold without seeing some real change and may have been pressed to put Corral in before he was ready Baker ensures we get decent qb play but I expect Darnold to play the best he has since being signed. It is a contract year and he has the best weapons and line he has ever has. Let's get ready to rumble and let the chips fall where they may.
  7. I think we still have 21 million available. We can sign anyone we want.
  8. Tom Glick was one of the guys who left. He was just named CEO for Chelsea who is a European soccer powerhouse. Did he leave to get rid of Tepper or move on to bigger and better things like many top executives.
  9. Depends on where we draft and how much it costs to move up. In 2022, quarterback costs were very small to draft a good one. In 2021 it took multiple firsts to move up to snag a top QB. If they stay as sought after as 2021, I am not sure cheap would apply if it costs multiple firsts to acquire even if they are on a rookie contract.
  10. The problem was both the offense and defense. It takes executing on both sides of the ball along with at least an average special teams to win games. We rarely played well on both sides of the ball in the same game. With little consistency we were all over the place and often collapsed in big situations. I think because the offense will be better, it will help the defense play looser knowing we can come back.
  11. Until camp starts we all know who projects as the starters. The question is who earns a spot in camp and surprises everyone. Does Brown come in with his NFL body or does he even make the roster. At least some of our starters last year will be nothing but backups this year.
  12. The cost for moving up for one of the top qbs in the 2021 draft was 3 Ist rounders and their results are mixed at best. Instead we got one of the top qbs in the 2022 class and 2 of the top 3 picks in 2018 for the price of a late first rounder if I follow the conversation. Seems to me that Fitterer is swinging for the fences trying to find his franchise guy. And actually it seems we are doing this at a very reasonable cost if this analysis is correct. If any of these guys pans out, he has found his lightning in a bottle.
  13. Great game. In the second half we played our game and pressured high. We took it to them. Great warm up for Toronto.
  14. We assume they left on their own. Have we heard why they left since it wasn't to go to another job or at least wasn't announced as such. Were any canned???
  15. Everyone talks about Baker's ability to process or his football knowledge as a significant limitation and it doesn't have to be. It does mean that McAdoo needs to tailor our offense to what will help all three of our quarterbacks. Use half field reads to simplify the offense and gets the ball out quicker. Manipulate the offense presnap to get favorable matchups. Use the quick pass as a handoff to McCaffrey and don't run him up the middle. Use play action to set up the deeper passes and get the ball downfield so they can't stack the box to stop the run. Throw more on first down instead of run-run-pass every series. Use the no huddle when Mayfield is feeling it as he can get on a roll. Use our tight ends to actually catch the ball and block downfield. But the point is that you don't compare Baker to a standard, you simply tailor the offense to help simplify things. As they progress you add more. How many years has Baker been in the same offense. If you think about it, he is a work in progress. I am interested in seeing if he is finally paying attention to the playbook as this is a contract year.
  16. Actually I am hoping we finish up strong to give us momentum for the next year not tank for draft spots. I can think of at least 2 years we didn't have a winning record but finished well and it set us up for the next year. I can't remember outside of 2010 where we sucked so badly we got a high pick which turned us around. Even then it took a few years to reach the playoffs. Tanking for the draft is a loser strategy which many times doesn't work out as well as expected.
  17. Losing Reddick was a result of going in a different direction with the pass rush. Which meant focusing on bringing more pressure up the middle instead of selling out on the pass rush making up vulnerable to the run. Dunlop is going to be added once training camp is over.
  18. Truth is you don't know anything that happened and are making mountains out of molehills for little that has been said by only a few talking heads. You don't like him because you are a Corral boy and are trying to troll against Baker. Troll someone else. Meanwhile I am getting ready for a great training camp and good stories and insights once the dead period ends. Good fishing....
  19. Not sure what your point is either. Fiery guys want to win. If it causes some players to resent it whose problem is that anyway. That stuff gets way overblown. Go back and look at stories about why Brady left New England and the locker room issues. Didn't stop him from winning the superbowl with Tampa.
  20. Cam had the same issue when he didn't win especially early in his career. But he turned into a pretty darn great QB for us and was a good leader. Being passionate about football is a big reason the players have climbed to this level anyway. What players are good losers and end up elite. Tom Brady reportedly yells and berates teammates all the time. Does he get called out? Like always, guys who win have lots of apologists while guys who don't win as often get mostly critics.
  21. Hard to compare potential quarterback success when Baker is new as well as the offensive coordinator. Let's compare in January. Who wasn't better than Darnold last year??
  22. I agree he got shafted but I think he is more than a game manager. He took Cleveland on his back in 2018 as a rookie and took them from winless in 2017 to 7-9 or almost breakeven. That isn't a game manager but a fiery guy who single handed improved them and everyone around him. And in 2020 took them to the playoffs for the first time since 1994. That isn't a game manager but someone like Cam who carried the team.
  23. I can't abide the weasel. With that smirk on his face I want to smack the taste out of his mouth. If he was the coach it would test my fandom.
  24. Because we aren't Cleveland and didn't go 0-16 last year like they did coming into his rookie year. And Baker now has 4 years of starting experience and has playoff win experience instead of just coming out of college totally green. And even then Cleveland improved by 7 games in a tough division. So how will what he did there be related to now given the schemes and teams are totally different? I dont think it will if we do use a West Coast offense and let the players excel after the catch. Anyone who knows football will see the disingenuousness of connecting the two. But I want to see the stats for wins and losses at the end of the year which are the only stats that matter. I think 7-9 are reasonable if CMC doesnt miss a lot of time.
