He said it to mute the media about lame duck year for Rhule, and the potential of any player not wanting to be here bc it will be a lame duck year for Rhule. This elimnated the noise the media could have drummed up if he said anything different about the situation.

i just listened to the whole thing, Tepper handled that pretty well. He just admitted to us fans that he has fuged up... and learning from it. The way he handled the Rhule piece was well played, bc now it will keep the media away from our team on Rhule and this being a lame duck year. Tepper played the media game, and walked away above it. For those pissed that Tepper didnt answer team roster questions, why would you want him to be the squeaky wheel on our football operations? That would destroy any leverage Scott has right now.

Actually, right after I wrote my comment above, I did a quick Google search, and we aren’t the only team that doesn’t have their coach chatting during the pre-draft presser. It’s possible, it’s still to come.

In all honesty, Rhule has proven to be bad with media. So he most likely asked to not have to deal with it. It’s not a bad idea for the franchise. Rhule just says dumb poo sometimes.

Thanks for the additional info, as of this moment its 4 acres, but the city agreeed to rezone it... the city would LOVE for Tepper to acquire the land and move the stadium further out from center. It would allow them to expand the skyline and use all of the existing space for commercial. The goal for the city by 2030 is to fill in the inner beltline as the new uptown. Tepper and the Panthers would be a piece to the puzzle.
