Potential Age/Experience

I know that we all want to see our draft picks grow into starters, all-stars and hopefully superstars, but unfortunately that has not happened thus far. Hopefully with the start of the Charlotte Hornets we can see that change.

The current Hornets roster has 3 players who all could be in this draft due to their age.

MKG - 20

Zeller - 21 (2 months older than Biz)

Bismack - 21

We all have opions on these three players but quite honestly is it too early to truly judge them? With the #9 & $24 pick we could have 5 rotational / starters around 21 yrs old to groom for the future while we have our older guys teach them and work with them.

So my question is for you all do you have any faith that any of these 3 players can grow into the players we are hoping for them to? Also does age matter to you all with time you give them or is it only the "eye test" or years they have been in the NBA?

You might not be able to, but I can judge Biz-

He will be a backup center who is a rim protector and won't score more than 10pts in a game for the remainder of his career.

Biz be like:

I agree with you about Biz. I still have faith to see MKG or Zeller develop but I don't have that faith in Biz. I just don't feel like he will be anything more than that. Truth be told I am unsure of his position on this team after next year.

    • Kalkbrenner and Sion James received regular contracts and not two ways, so the Hornets have some work to do to cut the roster size down.
    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
