PJ Tucker

I'd like to have a discussion solely about PJ Tucker if nobody minds.

I've heard many people mention him as a backup to Kemba and I'm now hearing we have interest in Tucker. Averaging 9.4 points and 1.7 assists last year... that.. um. Worries me. Ramon Sessions was averaging 10.5 points and 3.7 assists with the Bobcats last year while averaging 7 less minutes per game than Tucker. After Sessions went to the Bucks and started averaging the same amount of time as Tucker, Sessions was averaging 15.8 points and 4.8 assists. Sessions isn't the ideal backup PG but based on what I've seen he appears to be worlds ahead of Tuckers game. I could be wrong, I'd love to hear someone who knows more about his game explain how he would help us.

And for the love of god, this is about Tucker and the backup PG spot. Please don't turn it into another Kemba thread.

P.J Tucker is a small forward... that's why he averages 1.7 assists per game lol

I think this would be a good signing.

He's great on D and more than capable on offense when needed.  Plus he'd be a guy we could sign that's not taking over MKG more-so complimenting him.  His effort on the court showed last year.

Spend big money on a guard.

Steve Kyler tweeted that the Hornets had interest in him being the backup PG to Kemba. I went to find the tweet for you and saw he deleted it. I went to basketball reference saw his awful stats. Also assumed Kyler was right based on Tuckers height. I feel pretty stupid for not knowing Tucker was a SF, I know nothing of his game. Got mislead by Steve Kyler there...

I hope we look at Vasquez for our PG backup spot.

    • Any idea what happened to him at LSU? im reading that he was considered a 1st round pick in 2023, had an off 2024 season with only 4 sacks but was also on a horrible FSU team then went to LSU where he was supposed to be on an aggressive defense that should have given him a lot of sacks but he only ended up with one….   was he injured? Did the top SEC competition expose him? What happened? Cause this guy was considered a top prospect .
    • Sometimes its fun to read the threads/posts.  The panthers could literally hire a groundskeeper and we'd have a thread "improving the field for no other reason to prop up Bryce Young".  Apparently no move is ever done to actually make the team better.  All a conspiracy to just focus on Bryce Young. Or suddenly daydreaming and reminiscing about Sam Darnold when he was hated more than Bryce Young.  Its really fun to do a message board search about Darnold during that time period.   Or thinking there is just a tree that grows QB, and you can just easily go up and pluck one.
    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
