RALEIGH, NC – Ron Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has claimed forward Andrej Nestrasil (ahn-DRAY NEHS-tra-shihl) on waivers from the Detroit Red Wings. Nestrasil will join the Hurricanes on their current road swing which continues tonight at Los Angeles.

Nestrasil, 23, made his NHL debut in Detroit’s season opener on Oct. 9, and has earned two assists in 13 games with the Red Wings this season. The Prague, Czech Republic, native spent all of the 2013-14 season with Detroit’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins, notching 16 goals and earning 20 assists (36 points) in 70 regular-season games. Nestrasil ranked tied for fourth in scoring among Griffins skaters in the postseason with six points (4g, 2a) in Grand Rapids’ 10 Calder Cup playoff games.

I'd imagine he was claimed due to his familiarity with Peters.

    • I think in all honestly, the final 2 games are carrying most of the weight in a lot of Bryce talk IMO.    During the window where he "blew it out of the water" window......were a lot of games where he was not above average.  AZ is largely one of those stat sheet games.   Where the stat sheet reflects QB play that didn't exist in the game.  That game was all Chuba.  Meh vs Dallas.  Meh vs Philly.  Meh vs Giants.  Probably average vs Tampa, Den, Saints.  Bryce made HUGE strides vs what he was.  We should be happy.   But when you start comparing him to the rest of the league.....people I think are going too far.  His best aspect in reality.....is his scrambling.  And that's probably not a great thing give his size.
    • Mays and Zavala looked lost in the Reich offense.  Granted Zalava was probably playing too soon due to injuries but he looked terrible.  This new staff seems to be doing well with our OL.  I also wonder if having two vets in Hunt and Lewis just made life that much easier on whoever was/is playing center.
    • What the Panthers should target in order (via free agency or via trade): 1. Julian Blackmon  2. Mike Hilton 3. Jaire Alexander 4. Jalen Ramsey
