Formula to the Championship

I liked Derrick Morgan coming out of Georgia Tech. Former first round pick but the question would be why he didn't pan out in Tennessee? I thought he had pretty good potential but he was just undersized in weight.

He isn't undersized! He had a couple seasons of 6.5 sacks! Couple head coaches, DCs, schemes, and I believe he came out the same year as Hardy! Not to mention, takes DEs a couple years. Plus, he is a true 4-3 end playing OLB

New England's success is based on exploiting opponent weaknesses and being more prepared as a result of Bellichek's game planning and attention to detail. Listen to any of his former players and they often say how many situational plays they run based on what BB has seen. Even Butler said he'd seen the play before and focused intercepting the inside slant in practice before the game.

This is why the Patriots aren't seen as "lucky", Bellichek puts a premium on smart players who can adapt to his weekly gameplan rather than pure physical talent players like the Seahawks have.

Consider the way the Patriots used Vereen and Edelman compared to the way the Seahawks used Lynch and Matthews. On Defence, compare the way NE used Browner to the way the Seawawks used Sherman.

The model is there for coaches to build perenial contenders rather than trying to assemble superior talent that will peak and drop off as you struggle against the cap.
