New Futures Signings - 8 PS players (but not Horton?)

Hmmm.  Just happened to glance at the news tweeted by Panthers re: new futures signings today.  It's 8 of our Practice Squad players.

http://www.panthers.com/news/article-2/Panthers-sign-eight-practice-squad-members-to-future-contracts/915f2e4f-3712-4059-9be0-98cd93ccd3d7

The list of players includes defensive tackle Chas Alecxihicon-article-link.gif , safety Marcus Ballicon-article-link.gif , linebacker Brian Blechenicon-article-link.gif , wide receiver Damiere Byrdicon-article-link.gif , defensive end Rakim Coxicon-article-link.gif , guard Reese Dismukesicon-article-link.gif , defensive back Ras-I Dowlingicon-article-link.gif and offensive tackle David Foucault

Two of our PS not signed:

TE Nate Askew out of Texas A&M

and Wes Horton, a former key member of our Dline rotation who ended up on the PS after a perf. enhancing drug violation suspension, when there was no place on the roster to bring him back,,,,

Quite surprised if we decide to let Horton go..... He's decent against the run.

I don't know if Horton was eligible..... That said panthers got 2.5 years out of a UDFA DE. That's a win no matter what, plus it was Horton not ealy that replaced hardy last year.

I know its a bad time to be a FA DT given its the drafts deepest spot, but Horton could put on a lean 30 LBs and become a dawn Edwards type of player. Or become a 3-4 DE, I see a position change as his best way to remain in the NFL.
