New Futures Signings - 8 PS players (but not Horton?)

Hmmm.  Just happened to glance at the news tweeted by Panthers re: new futures signings today.  It's 8 of our Practice Squad players.

The list of players includes defensive tackle Chas Alecxih , safety Marcus Ball , linebacker Brian Blechen , wide receiver Damiere Byrd , defensive end Rakim Cox , guard Reese Dismukes , defensive back Ras-I Dowling and offensive tackle David Foucault

Two of our PS not signed:

TE Nate Askew out of Texas A&M

and Wes Horton, a former key member of our Dline rotation who ended up on the PS after a perf. enhancing drug violation suspension, when there was no place on the roster to bring him back,,,,

Quite surprised if we decide to let Horton go..... He's decent against the run.

Between this, Kony's monster performance, and CJ and Allen all but out the door, this could be the massive defensive end overhaul we've been waiting for.

I don't know if Horton was eligible..... That said panthers got 2.5 years out of a UDFA DE. That's a win no matter what, plus it was Horton not ealy that replaced hardy last year.

 

I know its a bad time to be a FA DT given its the drafts deepest spot, but Horton could put on a lean 30 LBs and become a dawn Edwards type of player. Or become a 3-4 DE, I see a position change as his best way to remain in the NFL.
