If the biggest failure by a front office in NFL history does not get him fired, then nothing will.

The coaches can not do much with what they were given at DE and DB. Had one of the best defenses in the NFL until Gettleman got a hold of it. This is worse than gutting the WRs and screwing around with the OTs to start 2014.

Belichick, Carroll, or Arians would have been openly pissed with a GM pulling this kind of poo.

Gettleman said he was willing to take a step back in order to be consistently good! This year is much more than a step back and he chose t o gut the team at th e worst possible time,so much for winning Superbowl 51 in honor of Sam Mills #51!If we have a shitty season next year,he needs to be fired!

Gettleman gets us through Cap purgatory and we go to the Super Bowl: "What will it take for Gettlemen to get into the Hall of Fame", 8 months later, (Cam extended, Luke extended, Star and KK to be extended) Norman let go because his Cap hit wasn't worth it, "What will it take to get him fired".

You new fans are too much. You haven't been around long enough to know the perpetual roller coaster that this franchise goes on and this is a valley that many would forecast if this were actually a business where forecasting based on historical data was used.

    • I read that Pittsburgh is a possibility.  I think of college QB studs who had some form of mental quirk yet tons of talent--but their issue made being a team leader difficult and it led to their demise--going back:  Jamarcus Russell, Art Schlichter, Jeff George, etc. I think people forget that the QB must not only have talent, but they must lead.
    • I wish I knew more details, but the NIL money to 20-year olds combined with easy access to gambling sites is a side effect that these kids may not have considered.  To your point,A famous 2009 Sports Illustrated article titled “How (and Why) Athletes Go Broke” estimated that 78% of retired NFL players go bankrupt or face significant financial stress within two years of leaving the league.  I am guessing that ego and $$$ and the thrill of competition (most pro athletes love competition because they are the winners) makes it a powerful temptation.  Throw in the ease of gambling on your phone which is always in your hand, and I see your point x 10.
    • Freeling got some reps at RT when they gave Moton a rest day--I sorta hope Freeling gets brought along slowly as you describe.  It would be better for him for reasons you provide.  We have a really good problem.
