Overall, the Panthers are...

So, Kasay is counted in the 11 for Offense and Defense, or just for special teams?

Kasay is an outlier. One person can't pull up an "AVERAGE" that much. If you have 9 one year olds and one 10 year old, the average would be "1.9", closer to 1 than 10.

Kasay doesn't pull up the average all that much.

I'm still more focused more on the so-called stars on offense and defense, in the skill positions. Other than running back, and Tight End, the offense is pretty old, and Peppers could be sitting in a rocking chair on the sideline based on his NFL age.

Lets break it down. Here is what I consider old for each postion.

QB 35

WR 32

DE 32

DL 33

RB 31

MLB 32

CB 30

OL 34

TE 33

Sfty 32

Im being conservative Some players can go past these ages but to me when a player hits these ages they are on the downhill slide.

21st oldest.

12th oldest.

You have to count from the bottom up.

Besides, the difference between 27.77 and 27.90 or even 29.09 is irrelevant.

Being old has to do with more than just age.

The point I'm making is that teams usually have a so-called "WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY" to win a championship, before they start slowing down.

The Panthers are losing steps left and right. Steve Smith still has the fire, but just like Allen Iverson, the little man has lost the mojo. On defense, Julius Peppers and Chris Gamble's times have passed.

The team needs to get a younger QB and some younger receivers in the offseason to reinvigorate Smith, and they need to replace Peppers and Gamble in order to breathe some life into the defense.

It's stale...because it's gotten old. The window has closed.

    • One word to describe next year's QB draft class...DEEP!  To me, this is Bryce's make or break year.  The organization probably doesn't feel that way and will likely anoint him as the starter to at least 2027 no matter what.  Some of these dude's will likely stay in college, but the bulk of them will be coming out.  Manning and Sellers are two probably staying. That's not to say that the 2027 QB class will be crappy or thin, because I honestly don't know.  It usually does skip at least a year--or more, but rarely two bumper crops of QBs in consecutive years. https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2026/story/_/id/45453107/2026-nfl-draft-quarterback-class-top-prospects-klubnik-sellers-manning
    • I think Ransom will be a solid player for us.  He played beside Caleb Downs, the cornerstone of the Ohio State defense last year and some have him as a top 5 pick for the 2026 draft.  He was characterized as the smart, instinctive, versatile safety.   I just don't think S will be a liability unless we have injuries.  I am very interested in seeing what they have in the three UDFA safeties; I see one making the roster. As for CB, I think they are higher on Wade-Smith than most of us are. Again, depth is a concern.  We have to hope Jackson has another solid season and Horn does not injure his leg or toe on one of the yard lines.   I am not sure I would compare it to last season's DL because this year's DL will cover a lot of deficiencies, but I know what you mean---our weak link.
