Why the Panthers scoring struggles aren't as bad as they appear on the surface

Trying to explain two simple concepts to you, concepts that you agreed would actually add to our points totals. And that makes us irrational, and delusional? Ok, whatever you say.

Sigh... go back and look at my analogies. I tried to break it down in other, simpler terms to get away from the statistical analysis piece of it.

It reminds me of a conversation I was having with one of my guys last week. He was obsessed because he was down double digits in one category but I was trying to point out to him that category is virtually irrelevant. It made up about 7% of his overall business. Meanwhile, he's up in his #1 category but only about halfway to goal in that category. That category made up over 60% of his overall business. I don't think I ever really did convince him that he needed to be focusing on his #1 category that accounted for the bulk of his business that was up but wasn't up nearly enough instead of focusing on a minor category that was down double digits. Don't get distracted by seemingly big numbers that really aren't relevant in the bigger picture. Small sample sizes can see huge statistical swings.

Redzone opportunities and turnovers are very small sample sizes after only three games. Look at the bigger picture. You may have a relevant point if the bigger picture tells a different story but if it doesn't you're probably chasing down an irrelevant rabbit hole.

Stuff like this frustrates me because it seems so damn blatantly obvious to me but it's pretty clear that isn't the case for a lot of people.

It's rather simple, the D needs to hold NE under 20pts else  we don't stand a chance....the front office, the coaches, etc see the offense as a necessary evil and have invested just enough to be adequate with a QB who used to account for a bulk of the rushing yardage.  Now he's hurt and older, the Panthers offense either goes dink and dunk since we can't run the ball or get slaughtered today.
