Well, we HOPE that is the case. Hard to say at the moment because it might end up being just as big of a shitshow as their sale was.

I won't deny the possibility.

The Panthers have had more success in the last few years than the Bills did leading up to their sale. That's a positive.

Yeah but I worry about the price tag driving people away and possibly the hurdle of JR to get over. I just wish all this nonsense was over with. Without the GM and ownership being settled, I am extremely fearful that this offseason ends up being a complete disaster.

It's been speculated that Richardson might try to get 3 billion for the team. Yeah, anything is possible, but I really don't see that happening.

The NFL does, in this case, have an option for stepping in. With the Bills, the owner had died. In our case, the owner is being investigated for misconduct. That gives the league an option to basically take the team away from him if they need to.

Yo man the team is going to be sold for over $2 Billion, The owner could be a MJ group or  Bezos of Amazon.

I don't think it is likely they strip him of the team unless he refuses to sell, which I doubt will happen either. I do imagine the misconduct case will likely get swept under the rug once he moves on, as well. The NFL has no real reason to push the subject because it gives the league bad press. If the media pressure stays very high, that might be a possibility but I think they are already bored of the subject because he decided to step down. Had he attempted to deny the entire ordeal, most likely they would have ratcheted up the pressure considerably. I am sure every major organization is on pins and needles while this "metoo" and/or sexual misconduct movement sweeps through everything, so I see the NFL dragging out their process and releasing the results when the furor has died down.

This whole thing sucks. I don't have the disdain for Richardson that so many here do but I will admit that the thought of a shake up of the status quo is viscerally appealing. The timing could have been better. I wish this whole thing had gone down after we initially hired Hurney as the interim. Maybe we would already have had this whole sale completed and our front office situation figured out.

Included Diddy last, and wrote nothing positive about him. Why even include him in this topic OP?

To be thorough. I don't believe he's actually going to make a bid, but some do and it's been talked about, so here it is.

Frankly, I'm not absolutely convinced DeBartolo is going to make a bid either. Heck, for that matter, I can't find much more than two or three sentences on Paul Tudor Jones wanting in.

For perspective, I found a story speculating on five possible purchasers of the Bills that was written early on in their sale process. I think only of the people listed actually ended up making a bid, and the people who ended up buying the team were never mentioned.

A lot of this is being done in shadow, so the person who ultimately buys the team might be someone that to this point we still haven't heard of. Heck, we hadn't really seen anything on Navarro until just a few days ago.

I never took the Diddy thing seriously. It was a good joke to laugh at

In the past, I might have agreed that they'd try to sweep it under the rug.

With today's media, I don't think they can afford to.

The NFL has already taken some huge PR hits with the Ray Rice and Josh Brown stories. They don't want that to happen again, especially not in the aftermath of the #metoo movement.

Throw in that Richardson defied them when they tried to pressure him to hire someone other than Marty Hurney, and I think the real possibility exists that the NFL is going to crucify Richardson with this investigation.

Now, it may not happen until after the team is sold. That allows both the Panthers and the NFL to claim some distance.

Quick Note: To the folks who are hoping that the Panthers relax their standards when it comes to drafting or signing "bad boys", my gut feeling is that Frank Fertitta is your guy.  Ditto relaxing the emphasis on a "family friendly" atmosphere in the stadium on gameday.

I'm speculating that based on what I know of the UFC.  Also, going by what I've seen of the average UFC Ring Girl and the fact that Fertitta has spent quite a bit of time in Vegas, skimpier cheerleader uniforms are a possibility as well.

(something tells me Fertitta may have suddenly gained some fans)

    • Just another 1st round QB that never paid off for the team that drafted them or traded for them. It's been like this since the SB began. 36 QBs have now won the SB & only 13 of them have been 1st rounders winning with their original team. Namath 1968, Griese 1972, Bradshaw 1974, McMahon 1985, Simms 1986, Aikman 1992, Elway 1997, Roethlisberger 2005, P.Manning 2006, E.Manning 2007, Rodgers 2010, Flacco 2012, & Mahomes 2019. Only 3 have taken longer than 5 seasons as the starter to win a SB.  4  6  5  4  6  4  15  2  9  4  3  5  2 [the years it takes for these 1st round QBs] 5  1  4  1  3  1  1  2  3  4  [10 of the 36 have won a chip with their 1st team that haven't been drafted in the 1st round. These are the years it took them as a starter] What stands out? Only 2 of these QBs have lost their first championship appearance. Elway took 4 years as a 1st rounder & Hurts took 2 years as a 2nd rounder. Of the 10 non-1st round QBs, 2 are 2nd rounders, 3 are 3rd rounders, 5 are 6th rounders or later. Please stop wasting time on drafting 1st round QBs with such a high failure rate. The remaining 13 QBs are traded or free agent signings. Stafford, Favre, Young, Williams and Dawson are the 5 trades. Peyton Manning & Tom Brady also won for teams as free agents on a short stay as well as being drafted. The lesson here is don't waste your franchise on farming up 1st rounders for the league, and steer clear of trading for a franchise QB. Stick to finding that championship QB by drafting them outside of the 1st round or through free agency.
    • I lost most of the respect I had for Fox in 2010. He should have resigned if he hated the job that much. Instead he stuck for his paycheck and let stuff go to hell.    I burned out on Ron too but my deal breaker issue with him was away from football and after he was gone from the Panthers. He may have been out of his depth but never quit on us.
    • From where they were one year ago to now, pretty incredible. I mean, say what you want about Vrabel he is no Jerrod Mayo.
