Let's check in on our old friend Frank Omiyale

Omiyale has started every game for the Bears at guard. All the smart posters here would notice that he's naturally a pass blocking tackle, and sticking him inside is a total waste of what he was able to do.

LETS SEE WHAT THE BEARS FANS THINK!

Honestly, Omiyale's run-blocking at guard looks like pass-blocking at tackle. He doesn't stay low or get any leverage at all: he stands right up out of his stance and shoots his hands like he's going to mirror his guy out wide. At least 80% of the time, the guy runs directly by him and into the backfield, then tackles Forte for no gain or a loss. He's admitted in interviews that he can't adjust to the different technique at guard, and you wouldn't believe how much it shows in games. Maybe they think he can learn it in time, but his ass needs to be on the bench immediately, or he's going to get Forte killed.

I understand why you did it: you suddenly needed tons of help on the o-line after losing St. Clair and Tait, you hate spending money, and you thought you could make something out of nothing. It was a combination of poor planning, stinginess, and pure fuging hubris. So you tried to get all cute and change two guys' positions. Maybe it could have worked, but you fuged it up, and now you need to admit it. Chalk it up to a gamble and bench Omiyale and Pace. Move Chris Williams back to the left side, where he belongs. Make Beekman the starter at left guard. Remember how we were pretty successful running up the middle last year? The three guys responsible for that are all healthy and still on the roster. So put Beekman back at left guard, and maybe you'll actually be able to run the ball inside.

    • So you think that the play is solely Bryce's fault and that all 31 other QBs turn that play into a passing TD in spite of an incorrect route from WR1, immediate blindside pressure, a lazy route on the opposite side, and WR2 not on the same page as the QB? That's a lot of oversimplification just to be able to blame one player.
    • The thing with cleaning house… who the hell wants to actually work for Tepper?! What good coach with options would take that gig? There are literally 31  better teams to work for…. This is the WORST place for a coach to work… and it’s not even close. Auto-firing staff after 1-2 years will only make things worse.  If candidates know they are going to be auto-fired when being dumped in to an impossible situation, then why even apply? Tepp has to show candidates that he’s calmed the f down. The best thing is for him to not make any major franchise decisions for a while.  Just imagine where we would be right now with Wilks, Darnold, Foreman, Luvu, Moore,  the king’s ransom they were offered for Burns and the picks they traded away for Young… tell me with a straight face that blowing all of that up was the right move compared to where we are today. Wilks and Darnold were bridges to a better place.  My point being, EVERY major franchise decision from Tepp has been a disaster. He blows everything up, even if it shows signs of potential. He has refused to hire a ‘my way or no way’ type coach with proven NFL success.  I promise you he doesn’t have a friend in the entire building.  besides changing out Evero who has been given years to make it work, this is the best case scenario for the foreseeable future until the next draft. I don’t think Canales is the right coach for the job, but tying him to Young isn’t fair. He deserves at least another season with his own guy that he chooses.
    • Yeah, he did. But what absolutely killed any chance of success is that our QB panicked and sailed the ball through the endzone uncatchable. That's why the focus is on that. Why do we need to do all these mental gymnastics to keep trying to come up with excuses to cover for the worst starting QB in the NFL over the past three years? What else do we kneed to see from him to admit he ain't ir? You don't trade up to #1 overall to draft a QB that needs everything to go perfectly to succeed. You're doing that because you think you're drafting a guy who can carry an offense.
