Reminder about the defense....

I know a lot of us, me included, have been a bit tough on the defense for not playing up to the level we've become accustomed to. But let's remember that this is now the third game this season that they've finished with a clutch stop at the end, where the other team could have tied or won the game with a touchdown. I'd say overall they've played well enough for us to win in every game but the Falcons, and even there they came up with a couple clutch stops to give us a chance at the end.

Also, look at the quality of quarterbacks we've played and the crazy offensive numbers we've seen around the league due to rule change, etc... The Patriots have looked much worse on defense than we have and no one seems to be worried about them at 5-2. I think we can trust that Kuechly, Davis and all the other former All-Pros/Pro Bowlers on that defense to continue to gel and play better together. Y'all can say what you want about Rivera but we've always improved defensively throughout the season under him and I don't think we've seen anything close to this group's ceiling.

You would think a light bulb would appear over the head coach’s head about that very thing one of these days.

Power still seems to be out though.

    • When we have everyone playing like they should, we can win the Cup. That has been the biggest problem when we get to the playoffs, but this year seems to be fixed mostly. We could have had multiple if we had done this in the past.
    • Here we go Bryce Stan’s you should love this. Hell it may be one of you.  It has every cliche excuse and then some.  Unintentionally hilarious my limit was reached when he said Bryce had it hard because four play callers.
    • Luke goes in to the specifics of what he looked to accomplish in joint practices.  Basically they may work with someone on the opposing team to stress something they feel is a weakness in their own game in a different way that can be done with someone they are familiar with. That they can have predetermined stresses but since neither wants to get injured and it has absolutely no bearing on anything there is not the level of concern that would be in a preseason game.  He would also even chat with opposing OC.   It seems like an interesting nuance among the vets and savy pros.
