It also could be the fact that he never comes off the field and is just gassed.

He ran a 4.48 40yd dash at the combine. Shaquem Griffin, who ran him down on one of those runs, ran a 4.38. CMC tied for 5th out of 26 RBs in the 2017 combine, which means that he was faster than Kareem Hunt, Alvin Kamara, and Dalvin Cook (all who participated).

Sometimes, the other team has fast guys too.
