Maybe Fox needs to take a page out of Andy Reid's book..

..and bench Jake for just a game, no matter what the outcome, then re-insert him if he loves him so much.

It worked very well for the Eagles last year when Reid benched McNabb, then once he came back, he played pretty well. If I'm not mistaken, they squeaked in as a 6th seed and went to the NFC Champ game?

Comfort kills progress, and sometimes, in order to take a step forward, you have to take a step back first. Jake needs that step back. I mean, how hard is he working to keep his job, when he knows he can't lose it anyway?

That is a decent idea. If Fox is really worried about "Jake the person", he should allow Jake to voluntarily take some time off the field to work on his mechanics, or whatever they can come up with. It happens often in baseball where pitchers are sent to the minors for a tuneup. This would allow Jake to really take the blame he asks for, give him some measure of decency, and give someone else a shot to actually throw footballs in a catchable manner.

Reid didn't bench McNabb with the intentions of him starting the next week. Kolb just played like poo and he was forced to start McNabb again. When a player is playing like Delhomme is and has scored more points for the opponents then his team, you bench him for good. There is no coming back at the age he is, this will probably be his last season and that Buffalo game could of been his last game. I love Jake, I hope he gets one more shot to redeem himself against the Cardinals and turns it around but it's just not going to happen. No matter how much I pray and dream, fuging football gods.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
