Different but good

Believe it or not, the offense was decent last year when the OL was doing its job and we upgraded it.  The offense is not why people here are seeking shelter.

I am excited about the offense, and I am excited about the OL if we can get something done at C.  WR?  We are much better than last year--our #3 WR now was our #2.   While I think we should have found "that guy" in the draft at WR, it could be simply that our projections are DT, CB, LB.  in the first three rounds.  I swear, it sure smells like Simmons, CB in the second, and a third-round DT to me.  If Marty is in charge, expect him to use that fifth rounder to move up at some point---and if he does not trade back in the first, he should be fired before round 2.  Pretty sure I am off topic by now.

It's not about this season, although I believe we will be more competitive than many believe.  These short term contracts are allowing us to build a core through the draft. In a couple years we will be big players in FA and make our run.

The draft is key.  Marty can take a bow for making first round layups, but his trades and picks on day 2 have been terrible.

Why is it important to draft well?

1. You have more first year contracts, allowing you to keep core veterans,

2.  Keeping core veterans is important because you know what you are getting in your system.  A free agent is like going to Vegas.

3. By finding better players in the late rounds, your role players get better.  Stars my fill the seats, but the better your role players, the better your special teams and the more resilient you are if an injury occurs.  In addition, competition makes everyone better.
