I like the Darnold trade, and I would much rather be starting him than Bridgewater

We know exactly what Bridgewater is, and what he's capable of. He's the definition of a middle-of-the-pack QB that won't lose you games but is allergic to winning them. Game after game we had a chance to tie or win, and every time we failed.

With Darnold, he might be bad. If that's the case, we just get a better draft pick in 2021 for a real franchise QB. Or, he might actually turn out to not be a lost cause - and with our only real glaring hole being QB, if we somehow leveraged a second, fourth, and sixth into a franchise QB, that's a pretty freaking good deal. Could take us to a playoff team

I like the the trade. I like the low risk here, and I like not having to take a gamble on the fifth or sixth-best QB in the draft. Sue me.

      I think we pick it up and then someone else ends up emerging as the QB next year and we end up cutting him in year 5 and eating it.  That would be the most on brand thing to happen.

      Evero has his faults, but even in that loss, the team only gave up 20 points. Your post gets to the heart of the matter. We are not a talented team on defense at this time. Some of our younger guys may develop w/more playing time, but for now we have no impact players at LB or EDGE. We could really use a ball-hawking S on the back end as well. We have exactly two players that have to be accounted for on every play, D. Brown, and J.Horn. Mike Jackson has been solid. The other starters would probably be backups on most the upper echelon NFL teams. We really can't expect this team to a Top 10 defense with such a lack of talent.
