The emergance of Matt Ryan had me thinking

Recommended Posts

Jake Delhomme is no spring chicken. When are Fox and Hurney going to draft a guy to groom for the future? Who would you like to see them look into? I personally think a guy like John Parker-Wilson would be a good fit in Carolina. He wouldn't have to start right away and he has done a great job managing games at Alabama this year.

What makes you more sold on John Parker Wilson than Matt Moore?

He seems to fit more from what i've seen (granted i haven't seen a lot of Moore other than his NFL appearances) into the game manager type of role which suits Carolina perfectly (great RBs and solid defense) Not necessarily JPW but someone who manages the game. Granted that could be Matt Moore but you are yet to present a reason why Matt Moore should be the heir as well.

I like what i've seen of Matt Moore and will continue to support him until he is given a chance behind the first team and falters. I really like his style for what Carolina is trying to do. We're a ground team and Matt Moore makes the simple throws look routine. He's not a gamebreaker, in both senses of the word, like Jake Delhomme can be on any given sunday but he's steady. He also has a decent scramble to his game.

He's a smart kid and a football player. Reminds me of your Jon Kitna type quarterbacks.

    • It goes deeper than that for me. When I started watching the Panthers as a kid I fell in love with Mark Fields’ story during that SB run. He wore #58. Then TD wore it and kept the tradition of the being the soul of the Panthers. The next time someone wears #58 I hope brings that same spirit
    • T-Mac is a nickname, Tet is a shortening of Tetairoa. Like you said below... your name is Jonathan, I could see "Jonny" being considered a nickname, but Jon isn't a nickname, it's a shortening of Johnathan, see the difference? And if your mom named you Jonathan for it's biblical significance/meaning, because she was very religious, I think it would be different. T-Mac is Polynesian, so much in their culture has deeper meaning for them, particularly names.  So for his mom to feel this way, I highly doubt it's just because she likes the name Tetairoa and not Tet, it's much more likely than not to be because the name itself has a deeper meaning in their culture.   Particularly as T-Mac himself has often talked about how much his Polynesian heritage means to himself and his family. And no, I'm not saying all this because of how much he's my guy, if he was just "normal american" and his name was Jonathan and he didn't like fans calling him Jon, I'd probably just say tough poo.  It's that he's Polynesian and I know things like names have a much deeper meaning in their culture than they do in ours for the most part. For whatever it's worth, a quick google search.......
