Great game today by your Panthers, even though I despise your team I am envious of its blue collar mentality and how they get things done.

My only gripe is Fox's move to shorten the punt to 20 yards so Brees wouldn't get the record. That was just a bitch move. If we had a defensive coordinator with balls he would have sent a blitz when Delhomme got hurt and finished him off.

Saints should not have been so concerned with that passing record - should have run some time off the clock. Instead, they scored in just a manner of seconds. Stupid move, but there was that record to get.

Sorry if that sounds smackish, but that whole thing really ticked me off.

You mean if you had a defense period.

Why would we want a record broken on us ?

You guys will bounce back and be a threat next season again.

You need a tougher team IMO.

All three of our linebackers can blitz sucessfully, our coordinator Gibbs refuses to blitz though. We might blitz 2-3 times a game if that.

lol...I read the saints board and many were saying baker shanked the punt on purpose....wow

In one of the biggest games of our season, they honestly think baker would shank the punt and give a QB of Brees' caliber a short field. Wow

A shorter field both destroys Brees' chances at the record and let's us score in a quicker manner. The way our offense was playing Fox probably wanted us to have a shorter field so we could score quicker and htus you'd get the ball back with time, the Panthers defense couldn't stop them in the 4th.

    • Yes, he's a tier above them, but you also touched on the money side of it.  With T-Mac locked in as our #1 on a rookie contract for a few more years, I'd much rather use that money that would be needed for DJ on our defense and develop Coker into our #2.   Especially given his contract situation as an UDFA, as his contract is up at the end of this year but we can keep him around for a 3rd team controlled year on the real cheap.  Which means we probably could get him to sign a very reasonable extension this offseason to give him a little more money while giving us a bargain contract for what he provides. DJ's contract is north of $20 million for the next 5 years, why pay that for your #2 WR with the needs we have on defense and you have guys like Coker, XL, and Horn on rookie contracts who very well could combine to be a serviceable 2-4 WRs behind a stud in T-mac? I love DJ and he'd be a great fit on this team as our #2, but the money side of it just makes absolutely zero sense, that's all it comes down to for me on this one. And no, I don't see the Bears wanting XL back in that trade, because they drafted Burden, who is essentially a better version of what XL provides, a player you want to get the ball into their hands and let them go to work.
    • I didnt see that many bad calls in the panthers cowboys game, but the chiefs especially in the playoffs were getting every single call they could get then the refs when it didnt matter would throw a call towards the other teams.  That I believe was the taylor swift effect.   But its crazy just thinking about how easy it is to change a game.  You dont need but a single ref to make a few close calls go towards one team over the other and in the nfl that is the game.
    • I don't think it's unrealistically blaming Bryce Young......to say has been a reason, sometimes a big one, in why our pass offense overall has been extremely week over the past 3 collective seasons.  I think that bothering anyone, is just being overly invested in some Bryce Young argument.  It's just a reality.
