Hate to break it to you, but we have one of the worst TE corps in the NFC.

Not the worst, but not much better either.

P.S. I will say, that it could be our offense/QB, but check out the numbers.

as a corps, panthers TEs are 61/750/4 12.3 ypc.

compared to:

AZ: 22/223/3 10.14 ypc

atl: 90/913/7 10.14 ypc

bal: 52/555/4 10.67 ypc

buf: 38/349/1 9.18 ypc

chi: 73/645/9 8.84 ypc

cin: 41/391/2 9.54 ypc

cle: 36/374/3 10.39 ypc

den: 52/646/3 12.42 ypc

det: 74/734/5 9.92 ypc

GB: 90/921/9 10.23 ypc

hou: 63/766/5 12.16 ypc

ind: 106/1156/12 10.9 ypc

jac: 54/772/3 14.3 ypc

min: 51/463/9 9.08 ypc

NE: 36/455/6 12.63 ypc

SF: 85/1049/11 12.34 ypc

sea: 51/555/5 10.88 ypc

stl: 37/388/1 10.49 ypc

tbb: 83/873/6 10.52 ypc

ten: 79/722/2 9.14 ypc

was: 71/771/10 10.86 ypc

16 have more receptions (atl, chi, dal, det, GB, hou, ind, NO, oak, phi, pit, SD, SF, tbb, ten, was)

13 have more yardage (atl, dal, GB, hou, ind, jac, NO, oak, phi, SD, SF, tbb, was)

18 have more TDs (atl, chi, det, GB, hou, ind, mia, min, NE, NO, nyg, phi, pit, SD, SF, sea, tbb, was)

5 have more ypc (den, jac, NE, SD, SF)

SD and SF showed up in every category. ATL, GB, HOU, IND, NO, PHI, TBB, WAS showed up in 3. DAL, DET, OAK, PIT showed up in two.

I have no problem saying that the panthers are easily in the top half of the league. Could they be better? yes. Are they near the worse in the league? no way.

If your not thrown to, how can you be evaluated? I don't think it's a case of not getting open, it's a case of our QB, specifically Jake, having a primary receiver ONLY on any given pass play. Our TEs don't appear to exist to him except late in games where we are trailing. I think they, all of them, have shown some good things when given the chance. I think we need a QB who knows how to incorporate them into the offense. Doing so would relieve the pressure on Smitty as well, and offer up opportunities for single coverage in the right situations.

I say make the decision to stick with Moore. The present group of QBs available in the upcoming draft is weak, and none of them might be available anyways unless we trade up for a shot at drafting one. I'm not aware of any FA QBs worth a shot, if they're so good, why would they be FAs? Is Vick worth a look? That's an interesting question, but I don't accept Vick as the answer either.

The QB crop may be better coming out of college next year. Moore knows our offense and personnel, and has shown real promise. I say start him and address the other critical needs we have, like WR (to replace Moose and develop a true 3rd receiver), and depth on both lines. Our special teams need some REAL help, not least of which is a coach.
