Luckily, they are skill position players and rely more on route running and quick cuts that put greater pressure on the toe. Shouldn't be quite as hard for a big ugly. Let's just hope the 13 days off gives him some time to recover.

True, but the big ugly is 330 as well.....need that foot work to get to the second level just as any TE would. A lot of man rests on that toe. We need ya Otah!!

Ask Antonio Gates and Ladanian Tomlinson how a little toe booboo affects your play.....they have not been the same since 2006.

LT is a cut back back rb and Gates a dynamic TE. Otah either goes forward or side to side. not exactly the same motion used.

Not down playing Otahs injury but I think he could have gone.

Soooo...Mr. Scot is the only other reasonable poster here. Okay..never said Otah was cutting back and doing crossing routes..but he diggs his feet for leverage and slides-Mirrors DEs. A lot of the balance is dependent on some toes....ever player except the long snapper needs his little toe. Saying Otah could go is the ultimate couch-coach comment anyone could say.

You were comparing Otah to LT, there completely different positions and need their toe for differnt things. I get what youre trying to say, but the initial comparison isnt correct.

Seeing how people have played through a lot worse injuries I speculate that otah could have played. Given that we had a lead and the conservatismand play it safe style of Fox thats probably why he was sat down.

    • Also, just for clarity, is this thread meant for general discussion of Bryce Young, or discussion of General Bryce Young?
    • The word I feel most comfortable using as a descriptor is "inconsistent". Haven't really seen anyone disagree with that. Consistency being one of the things I value most in a player, that makes me lean toward moving on. But he does still have both time and opportunity to prove otherwise. Mind you, having a streaky quarterback isn't exactly a new thing in Charlotte (you could argue it's been the norm). Delhomme was notorious for starting slow but finishing strong. He could sadly also find hos way into ruts that were difficult to crawl out of. Newton, on the other hand, was often known to start hot but fade late (the vast majority of the 2015 season followed that pattern) though it could be argued that was a team pattern as much as it was Cam's.  There are definitely some fans for whom this is always going to be a bridge too far. (or too short) Realistically, it's not impossible that he could still have a good career even with those issues. It's a damn sight more difficult, though. And arguably, less likely.
    • Oh, I did, and they weren't based in emotions either. Granted, characterizing them that way gives you an easy out to avoid responding to them. Similar tactic to dismissing the other guy's points with "nah, you didn't really watch the games" which saves you having to debate what he said. Strikes me as a kinda lazy way to go, but hey both elements are still back there if you feel up to trying later.
