Chargers get:Adrian Peterson, Tavaris Jackson

Vikings get :Phillip Rivers and Antonio Gates and 3rd rounder pick (90)

confirmed

I am sure this is going to be frowned upon but I want to wave a veto stick at this trade.

I know it's been confirmed but the trade is lopsided, irrational (Chargers already have a plethora of running backs: LT, Fagas, Wolfe, Hester) and is spoiling what was a fairly respectable GM game.

The Manning trade was understanable as the 49ers gave up pretty much everything for him. I did not agree with it from a fundamental point of view, but at least the compensation matched. This trade however has caused many to not bother with the whole thing.

Colts trade the Chargers

Fili Moata

Bob Sanders

Pierre Garcon

4th round pick

for

Vincent Jackson

7th rd pick

7th rd pick

Confirmed

Also flagging this trade for the veto stick. Fili was a third stringer and is now a third stringer. Garcon was a 4th stringer behind Crabtree, Wayne and Collie where he has only become a need due to Jackson being given up. Sanders would be moderate compensation except he is never on the field.

Is Jackson truely worth two back ups and an injured SS? The picks are neglible as there is no way a replacement can be had int he 4th. Jackson is arguably the most efficient and prolific Wrs out there, he is certainly top three.

Considering Brandon Marshall was fairly well judged as a 1st and 3rd by Atlanta, Jackson should be comanding more. So unless two 3rd stringers & ~8 games from Sanders is worth 2 1sts, this trade is not balanced even in the slightest.

    • Yeah, if you tune in for any of the remainder of the season you will get what you're asking for. Nobody but yourself to blame. This is a sports franchise of losers, for losers.
    • Here is my take, go ahead and roast me, I'm ok with it, I know where I am. I'm not ready to throw in the towel just yet. I will wait until week 4 or 5 before I entertain that option. This game I blame on the coaching staff. Their failure to give reps to the first team during the preseason was reflected in this game. Lets just call this what it is... our preseason warm up game. You could see that the whole team was flat in the first half. Every aspect of the game, the basic fundamentals. Mental errors, missed tackles, timing on routes, they were not ready for this game. Jacksonville is not a great team but you could clearly see their energy level surpassed ours. I do have to give credit to our defense. They did hang in there and kept competing through 4 quarters (minus the 71 yard run). The way our offense played it's a wonder Jacksonville didn't put 40 on us. Positives I saw, (I know, I know), but come on, we still have 16 games. TMAC IS that guy!! Chuba looked good, and overall, our O-line looked good. As bad as Bryce looked at times I do feel like we're a step or two away from connecting with our WR corps. There were plays to be made that were JUST off by a step or two (again, I know). We have talent at WR, we have talent on offense. To me, this game just looked like a team that was not mentally prepared for NFL week one, and less, "oh my god, we're the same old Panthers". Now I get it... a lot of this hinges on Bryce Young and his confidence. If he can erase this and focus on building continuity with these receivers I honestly think we're not going to suck as bad as we did today. XL... IDK, the jury with him is still out, but there is no doubt the kid has mega potential. Our defense, honestly, considering we have a bunch of new guys on that side, they held their own considering the offense could never change the momentum of the game. I am as disappointed as everyone else at another week one poor performance. But I also realize we are STILL rebuilding. Lets just take it week by week right now and see if we have ANY talent that rises to the surface. Because I really do not know what we have talent wise. And that is not just limited to the QB. So, we will see, but I'm not going to call it just yet... just my take. Now fire away! lol
    • Well for one, what other realistic choice is there? Barring a season ending injury, Bryce is the guy for this year. Next year all options are open, but there aren't any other real world solutions for the 2025 season.
