Landslide in western North Carolina

I live in Asheville, born and raised...its a damn shame what they have done in the north end and development on the south side of town.

I forget if it was last summer or the summer before we had a lot of rain and some old folks got trapped on Reynolds Mountain because of land slides.....

I actualy did a college project on a very high end home development call "The Cliffs". Because sustainability and being Green is so big in construction right now, i focused specifically on that.

They do a lot of stuff to prevent erosion with specific types of grass, all the surveying work the do usually puts the homes in safe areas. It wasn't all PR fluff either.

But keep in mind this was in a very exclusive developement though. My home I concentrated on was some CIA/Homeland Security dude who had an elevator and a putting green put in, hah.

I framed homes while going to school in Asheville, and helped build a house in The Cliffs. There are some really amazing homes up that way.

It's just like any other boom area though, you have great contractors and contractors that cut every corner in the book.

Look at greater Charlotte for instance. The old homes are much, much more sturdy in a possible hurricane than many of the new ones.

    • There is quote from Canales somewhere when we hired him.  He was blunt he isn't some creative mind.  He was going to come in here and do X......and that was going to be closer to Foxball than anything we have seen.   And that largely has held true.   It's why he REALLY needs that Jake Delhomme type.  Baker was that.  The downfield gunslinger.   Big plays exist in his O.   You need a gambling QB to go make them downfield.  Bryce pulled the trigger once this week.  But he is just bad at it.  It was that Tmac deep ball that ended up being a PI.  Tmac had his dude beat.  That was the homerun ball this O sets up.   But Bryce underthrew it.  Tmac had to slam on the breaks and come to a full stop and wait for it.    Those just aren't Bryce's throws.    Sure we got the PI.  Some might celebrate that aspect.  But that throw highlights Bryce doesn't make those throws well.  Your WR shouldn't have to come to a complete stop and wait....when he has the guy clearly beat for the over the top play.  That's what the entire thing sets up.  Bryce rarely takes the shot.  When he does, it's generally not a great ball.
    • Sorry to hear that man. Keep that chin up, Panthers aren't worth taking up any headspace. You got this
    • Kinda of like when Hurney went on a GM search as a consultant and the best candidate he found was himself, lol!
