Best of the Beat Writers

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

While I'm in the mood to play media critic, let's talk about the local guys.

Here are the writers I consider among the best of the bunch:

Alex Marvez, Dolphins (Miami Herald / Fox Sports)

Kevin Acee, Chargers (San Diego Union-Tribune)

Bernie Miklasz, Rams (St Louis Post-Dispatch)

Brad Biggs, Bears (Chicago Tribune)

Ed Bouchette, Steelers (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)

Tony Grossi / Mary Kay Cabot, Browns (Cleveland Plain Dealer)

My belief has long been that if you want to truly know what's going in with a particular team, the local beat writers - whose sole job it is to cover that team - are always the best source. Some, though, can be considered reliable even when they step outside the realm of their own local heroes and talk about the NFL at large. The guys listed above are ones I would put in that category.

And honestly, yes, I think the Panther guys (Chandler, Gantt, Reed) are pretty good too.

Feel free to mention anyone else you think is worthy.
