When will we get national televised games?

Will we get some next season after making (hopefully) the playoffs? Is there a rule like in the NFL you get a certain amount of primetime games?

I'm just tired of seeing bad teams like the Warriors on ESPN all the time.

It has nothing to do with the playoffs, but I'm sure if we do make the playoffs they'll throw in some games on NBC & TNT. ABC is doubtful.

What it really comes down to is "popularity" and "ratings".

The NFL is different because you only have so many prime-time games a week, so it gives every team a chance to have at least one national game... if even the NFL Network.

We might get 1 in 2 weeks....

The Bobcats might play a national-television game on April 14—the season-closing game against the Chicago Bulls. The other games that night aren’t particularly strong and the Bobcats and Bulls could still have something at stake, in terms of seeding or even a playoff spot, in game 82.

i mean that by making the playoffs we will be considered a team on the rise which means the nba's tv partners would be more willing to put us on nat. tv you are correct in that popularity and ratings are what matter most that's why i could see some of our games against clev or la on tnt or espn next year cause those teams bring in the ratings. by the way NBC has not be involved with nba since 2002

I wish NBC was still carrying NBA games.

I miss nbc also, but the nba decided that cable was the best way to go to continue tv growth. i'm sure the idea of cross promos with espn were a factor as well and with digital media becoming more popular i think the nba was thinking outside of the box and long term. the nfl is the only league that has seen growth through broadcast tv all the others including the ncaa have either flat or lost ratings

As a Hawks fan, I can say the following with experience and confidence:

Step 1) suck less

Step 2) reach the playoffs

Step 3) repeat steps 1 and 2 the next year

Step 4) finish a season above .500

Step 5) win a playoff series

Step 6) have at least one all-star on your team

Step 7) maybe, just maybe, get considered for a nationally televised game

Next season I expect us to have no more than a couple as things are right now....

if we make noise in the playoffs that would add to our attractivness next season

Also the off season will play a major role... with so many big time free agents the teams who signs the top players will have a good amount of games on tv next year.

I complain, but honeslty right now nobody cares about the Bobcats other than us... we have to make other fans care, then the network will care...

It helps to have an all-star, however Gerald Wallace does not get respect from other basketball fans as a NBA all-star player.

    • I used to think Juan was a Zod alt. Agree he's a great poster.
    • Hawks said nah we good and sent him to the shadow realm aka the Wizards. Cold blooded. I mean they're 2-2 in a series with a young up and coming Knicks team largely through 34 year old CJ McCollum. Even if they ultimately lose the series at least they are there and have something to build on. I think Hornets fans are just beaten down and lack the objectivity to assess the situation. They think we are going to get so much worse if and when we finally change gears. Worse how? We've already been a lottery team for years now. We've already been looking to win our first playoff series in about a quarter century. We already can't get past the play in and in failing to do so we have completely embarrassed ourselves twice looking like we don't even belong. Honestly there is absolutely no excuse for a team like the Magic to be more competitive and successful than us in the playoffs. Absolutely disgusting. But that's just me. I was fuging lit when we got the Hornets back in Charlotte but that is old old news. It's time for these boys to get into a playoff series. Enough is enough. If they can't do it for 2026-27 then they need to make wholesale changes regardless.
    • Not one single pick that is asking me why we drafted a guy in the first place. It was a guy we needed and/or a guy that had certain traits making them stand out. Best of all, I feel everyone we drafted are capable of stepping onto the field this year and have a meaningful role (even Kuwatch on special teams). Obviously, nothing is guaranteed but I'm not seeing any huge flags on guys because they're risky projects or massive overreaches.
