My Carolina 7 Round Mock

Recommended Posts

I'm new here to the huddle. I've been coming on here evryday looking over the posts since I'm a huge Panthers fan and this was the best Panthers forum I found and I finally decided to make an account. Here's a quick 7 round mock for Carolina. Feel free to comment on any of the picks.

Round 2 Pick 16 (48 OVR) Lamarr Houston DT-Texas

Round 3 Pick 14 (78 OVR) Brandon Lafell WR-LSU

Round 4 Pick 14 (112 OVR) Roddrick Muckelroy OLB-Texas

Round 6 Pick 6 (175 OVR) Ciron Black- OT/OG-LSU

Round 6 Pick 33 (202 OVR) David Reed WR-Utah

Round 6 Pick 35 (204 OVR) Rahim Alem DE-LSU

Round 7 Pick 16 (223 OVR) Zack Robinson QB-Oklahoma State

Round 7 Pick 42 (249 OVR) Jeff Byers Center-USC

I also would be happy if we got Alualu instead of Houston at 48 or if we get Taylor Price or Gilyard at 78.

That'd be fine but I would like to see some DE help.

well i did take 1 in the 6th but i shoulda added that this is more based on what i want 2 see happen rather than what i think.. cuz i kno 4 a fact, especially knowing the panthers, that this will be way off.

because personally, i like our DE's and think they deserve a chance. and also, no matter what fox says, i think DT is a problem that needs addressing.

and.. i also stated I would like Tyson Alualu aswell, possibly over Houston. And he can play both end and tackle. (which come to think of it, may be a better fit)

alualu is a big boy he's probably better as a 5 technique in a 3-4. We already have Charles Johnson. I think we need a replacement for Peppers.

Well isn't there a reason we gave up a 1st round pick to sign Everette right when the talks of Peppers leaving began? It seems like Carolina drafted him to replace Peppers. I think Everette Brown, Tyler Brayton, and Charles Johnson together can help replace peppers just fine. I just feel that DT is a bigger need than DE personally.

well we obviously cant make up his physical ability. but atleast we know that what we get 1 week from these guys, we can get the next.

I'd be happier with a guy who gets 10 sacks by getting between 0.5-1 per game rather than someone who goes 0-0-0-3-0-0.5-2-2.5-1-0-0, etc. you know what i mean?

great mock

thanks for the feedback.. theres a really deep draft class this year making it a whole lot easier to pick 6th/7th rounders than in the past. some 3rd round [players that coulda gone 1st in previous years and some 5th rounders that coulda gone 3rd. i really like david reed personally and i think if we get him in the 6th, he'll be a HUUUUUUGE steal

    • He does have speed. 21+ top end speed is very fast for a linebacker and his 3 cone drill time is considered excellent, close to elite.
    • This is awesome because you get to see the perspectives of the scouts--get a glimpse behind the curtain. I wonder whose doing this was; I am curious as to why David Tepper allowed it. Maybe it was his wife. Maybe Dan.  At least from my perspective--and probably one shared by other fans--when David Tepper bought the team, he closed everything off too much to the fans, and really didn't give an explanation. Things were obviously done because he (and/or some others wanted to do it). Remember when they used the guise of construction and all that to keep fans from seeing the team during practice? I know there are laws and safety and all that, but Tepper could've made it happen. And, of course, we all know that they essentially fired Jeremy from his independent contractor gig as a photojournalist. I never understood why they'd do that (and the negative reverberations obviously affected Jeremy and ultimately this place--i.e, us fans). The pie was (and is) certainly big enough to throw some scraps to the independents. I realize that you can't necessarily open the floodgates, but a few different perspectives from indy journalists whether in word or photos is a good thing in my mind.  So, it's great to see different perspectives. I will say this however: it is not without risk, as you know there will be some buster who will be calling the scouts out if the players flop. I think we should all keep in mind that the buck stops with the GM. It's nice to have one, however, that is so convicted in his people and process--and ultimately success, that he's willing to give fans access to this type of information. Pass this on to Tepper.
    • I hope he ends up being our best ever at the position. Ryan Kalil left big shoes behind that we haven't quite been able to fill since.
