Some more NFC South stats I dug up.

The op said that because the panthers average a half a win more this proves we are the best team in the south. If he simply said the panthers have a slightly better winning percentage than everyone else he would be correct. But that doesn't make them the best team. You can't dismiss championships just so it goes in the panthers favor. It doesn't work that way.

And you can't dismiss regular season records either.

This isn't as hard as you're making it.

There are 3 teams that you could make successful arguments for. Personally, my fandom is the tiebreaker.

Ok, let's take the "kiss the ring" angle.

Tampa won the only decisive victory in the big game. Impressive, but that was with players gathered by a coach that never was part of the South, led by a coach that absolutely destroyed that franchise, so much so that Tampa finished in the bottom 5 three times since.

NO was a laughing stock till the year after Katrina. Even then, change 3 unusual plays (Our clutch kicker making a rare fatal error, a high risk onside kick going right, and a seemingly boneheaded gamble by a slightly better than average CB going for six the other way), and we're having the exact other conversation. Not taking away from NO's win, but it's a paper thin difference in fate that resulted in them having rings and us not.

Take that with the fact that the Bucs and Saints would have to sweep us 3 years in a row to even the series and I don't exactly see a convincing front runner.

If we had never had a (very close) SB apperence or even only one Division apperence, I'd be the first to throw in the towel. As it stands it's pretty damn even.

Panthers went 1-15. They too were a laughing stock. Every team in our division has been a laughing stock for that matter. The OPs stats prove that when he pointed out that every team has averaged between 7 and 8 wins a year.

If you're going to make excuses to dismiss the bucs and saints championshps then you may as well do the same for the panthers NFC championship since several players on that team were on the roids when we went on that run.

Its going to take the panthers 3 sweeps to tie the falcons. So by your standards the falcons are better.

I dont think so, im guessing he looked at that list of power rankings and saw the falcons rated higher then us and thinks that is how it really is....

"it is what it is"

Or maybe I was looking at this number.

Falcons lead the series over the panthers 18-12.

So you're now going outside the timeframe to gather facts.

I, um, I am just going to say you probably don't want to go there.

:banghead:

well according to your lame ass super bowl crap, falcons are the only team to not even make it to the big game since 02, does that make us better? make up ur mind if u want to base ur bs on superbowls or regular season wins

I already said the panthers were better than falcons. I just used his own silly argument against him to show how wrong he was.

So did you. You said the saints were a laughing stock pre katrina. If you meant 2002 -2004 they had the same amount of wins as the panthers.

First off, i started in 2002 with the re-alignment. The 1-15 season was 2001. Second off, the Panthers were between 8-9 wins, not 7-8 wins.
