Taking a break........

maybe a little break... but you know.. the greatest wins mean nothing without the worst losses... and maybe this game will encourage a bit of a house cleaning... Fox.. eh, I don't know... Jake was (is?) my favorite player... I just don't know... but I'm excited for the future of this team...

As one of the not-too-hardcore fans, I must concur that I'm probably done (except for a few post-season bitching threads here or there) until summer or later. I must say it's been a really fun ride, and having just discovered the board this season I must give props to all of y'all for making this Panthers season one of the most exciting I've ever experienced, despite the horrific ending. Thanks everyone & stay classy Charlotte.

just don't bandwagon off somewhere else... I wouldn't be surprised if 10-20% of the fans bandwagon off to other teams for a season... the fanbase was just starting to really get into this team... it is going to be a while, maybe a year or two, till we see the kind of excited fanbase... who knows... maybe they will be back in full force next year...

I know that post wasn't intended for me specifically, but I don't think many of our "seasonal" fans plan to bandwagon anywhere else, and I myself would never do so in a million years. I just think that you'll see a dramatic drop off of people posting during the off-season, and we won't hit the level of board activity we have had for these past several weeks unless we buck the odds and have a title-worthy team again next year.

I'm definitely excited for 2009, though, and I'll be back. I've been on board every year since '95, and a 12-4 season and Division title won't do anything to dampen that enthusiasm. I'm also betting that those that got their first taste of Panther football in 2008 will be back for more in 2009.

Came back to clarify.

I'm no bandwagon fan, but being a huge fan consumes a lot of your life. Kind of an odd way to put it, but I would be checking for Panther news everyday and visiting many sites, the games/tailgates/parties.

I guess I could have seen this coming cause after loses I would just turn off anything NFL related and just wait till next week. This is a different case, cause there is no next week.

Just give up a bit of your "NFL life." It will make you much healthier.

    • Considering you previously struggled to understand BTT despite it being explained in a video, write-up, and multiple replies, I get why this might be a little too complex for you. Happy to clarify again! Just let me know which part tripped you up this time. 😉
    • And, honestly, there's only so much you can attempt to do in the draft. And every draft pick is a roll of the dice. But that's where grabbing a ton of UDFAs, and targeting the best, makes a big difference. Sure, their individual chances of getting a hit here is less, but that shotgun pattern might just hit something.  Right now, we need bulk, partly to rebuild and partly to dilute the deep level of stank that has developed on this team in the last six years. If we're going to rebuild a culture built around culture, accountability and winning, then these UDFAs we bring in each season have to be the wash water that gets out that leftover dirt.  Canales seems to be a smart, culture-first, build up the good ones kind of guy. I like that and I hope he can keep it going here. But he was working against a locker room that had been taught to lose and taught to distrust or ignore coaches. He's got his work cut out for him, still. He does seem to have it moving in the right direction and that's something I was pretty amazed with by the end of last season.
    • The most telling sign, IMO, of a team on the upward swing is who we lost in the off-season. Who left that even saw the field? Woods, Clowney, Sanders, & Hekker. OK...no big deal. Clowney is the only 1 that I raised an eyebrow over and I get that it was a money decision. No need to pay him over $7M to take snaps from our draft picks when he was just OK last year.
