WTF Happened To John Fox?

Fwiw, I remember fans and sportswriters back in 04/05/06 talking about how talented we were. The truth is that during those years, we were not all that talented, at least on offense. We had a solid offensive line, an average QB, running backs were decent at best. The tight ends were used for blocking more than receiving, and we had one superstar receiver and the rest of them aren't worth mentioning. To be a talented team, you have to have talent on both sides of the ball. We lost a lot of talent after 03, and didn't begin replacing it until 07.

We can blame Fox for taking so long to replace that talent, but I don't think we can blame him for failing to get the players on the field to produce. He probably got as much out of them as any coach in the league could.

I agree with this for the most part.

We have been a pretty bad drafing/developing team for a while, especially under Fox, until the last couple of years.

Just off the top of my head, other than Kalil, our recent 2nd rounder have been really really bad, and those are players that you try to build your foundation around.

I think Fox has the most talented team he's fielded this season. If you look all across the board. Offensively this is best offensive line we've had, what will be the greatest running duo of all time in DWill and JStew. If we compare the 2010 WR core to the 2003, we have talent vs experience. At QB Moore has played well in just about every regular season start.

Defensively our secondary should be pretty good. We don't have the defensive line we did in 2003-2007 but we do have hungry role players to make it work and we have multiple athletic pass rushing options that we haven't had before ( Brown, Johnson, Norwood, Hardy, Taylor). LB is the heart of the defense and it definitely took a hit when Davis went down again but even still we shouldn't miss a beat with Beason outside and Conner in the middle.

The talent is off the charts, experience and proven commodities is what we don't have.
