I feel physicaly ill.... But it was excpected yes it was excpected. Heres why; Ive been saying it all along this season yea we went 12-4 but Brees picked us apart, warner did in the regular season as well as tonight, matt ryan did etc. We cant keep rushing 4 down linemen and playing off 10 yards on the outsides with ken and gamble. Trgo needs to go for us to get past this plateau, we have talent to be much more creative than droping back peppers in coverage once or twice a game and bringing 3-4 every down. We have thomas davis who has shown he can come from the outside and blitz the QB very well, Peppers all around freak, kaemo massive and very strong, beason stud lb, (ala ray lewis) Charles Johnson, brayton, harriss, diggs, gamble, lucas the list goes on. Pitt runs a 3-4 and utilizes palamalu in stoping the run more than anything (Harriss would flourish in that role) baltimore throws everything at you, san diego 3-4, philly blitzes more than any team ive seen, the only team ive really seen have good pressure bringing four guys is the gmen last year but they were loaded, didnt just have strahan like we have peppers. WE HAVE to get creative we need a new cordinator on D make the switch to a 3-4. let it look like this, peppers olb, davis olb, beason and diggs inside, than we got charles johnosn, kemo and brayton on the line. and just blitz and blitz and blitz all angles, safety blitzes, overloads, a gaps etc. Constant heat from pep, let him roam a bit and just control that side. Bring harris down let godfrey up top and press with lucas and gamble all game. Lucas is much better in man than zone, any secondary would look awful with the help they get from that line. Sure we get sacks but there never anything new its always pep got in or dlew up the middle. Never any blitzing, no beason up the gut, or constant pressure from thomas davis. we just sit back with that bitch d and get picked apart by all star level qbs. poo has to change for us to get past it were good and will be good but will never be great under this scheme.

    • I’m not mad at Moehrig.  He’s great at what he does.  And to be honest, a lot of my favorite safeties in our history were box-first type guys - Maxie, Minter, Mike Mitchell, Chris Harris…  they’re first and foremost objective was to put people on their backs and coverage was secondary.  There is a place for that.  There is a definite need for that.  Physical guys that set the tone.  So cool, we have that in Moerhig. But what we have lacked for the vast majority of our existence is a true free safety that cleans everything up on the back end.  Sometimes they come in the form of a JOAT, like Peppers.  I think he would be a fantastic compliment to Moehrig’s strengths and weaknesses.  If we don’t go after him, I certainly hope Ransom is given the chance to grow and develop in real-time with real game reps, because what he did in preseason was very encouraging to see.  I hope he can grow into that roaming center fielder with a little bit of an edge to him as an enforcer as well.  He has the tools.  In the meantime, adding Peppers would only help.
    • Option 1 is most likely. Even if he kills it this year, it wouldn't be prudent to rush an extension for one good season. If you have to pay him more because you waited another year, then he earned it. And that's OK. Adjust accordingly.
    • Cam had the advantage of having a very strong supporting cast his first 2 seasons. Things definitely worsened later on. But those first couple of years can kill a QB. Some never truly recover. If they do recover it takes years, and usually with another team. Trying to learn to be an NFL QB with TEs and WRs that are trying to learn too is a recipe for disaster. Imagine if Cam's rookie season was that 2014 offensive squad. Changes everything! I said it when they moved up in 2023. This team wasn't ready for a rookie QB yet. Anyone that thinks Stroud would have been a lot better is delusional. The correct formula is to build a strong team and then you go get your rookie QB. Not the other way around. BY is going into his third season and we're still trying to put a respectable group of WRs and TEs around him. I think they have the right personnel now. Unfortunately they haven't developed into actual NFL players yet.  This season we should expect consistency and aggressiveness from BY. Mostly for his development but also to DEVELOP his young cast.
