Bobcat question

Recommended Posts

Pardon my idiocy but i'm far more adept at knowing the Panthers than the Bobcats. I love the Bobcats but don't know the NBA as well as I used to. With that said:

1. PG, with Felton gone, or likely so, is DJ the man for the job as a starter or do we need to find another starting quality PG. I know we're limited on cap space.

2. C, glad we locked up TT, but is he going to play the 5? Personally I'm a bug believer in a dominant post player, someone who can hold their own in the paint on both ends if the floor.

3. What other needs do we have?

4. Outlook/Opinions on the upcoming season.

Thanks for the patience and info.

1. D.J. will most likely me given a shot, but we will have to bring in some other guys in order to fill a roster whether it be Sherron Collins, Jeremy Pargo or both from the summer league or a seasoned veteran.

2. Thomas is actually a Power Forward and will spilt time there with Boris Diaw.

3. Our needs include two capable point guard's and a back-up shooting guard.

4. I believe we will finish with 45 wins, one more than we did last year and we will be the 6th seed in the playoff's facing the Celtic's.

Hey its not problem, all fans start somewhere and I'm glad that you're hopping on with the Bobcats! Now, let's get down to business....

1. PG, with Felton gone, or likely so, is DJ the man for the job as a starter or do we need to find another starting quality PG. I know we're limited on cap space.

Augustin hasn't proven that he can be anything other than a back-up in the NBA, so we need to acquire somebody else to run the point. With any luck we'll be able to trade Tyson Chandler and his expiring contract or Boris Diaw for a starting PG.

2. C, glad we locked up TT, but is he going to play the 5? Personally I'm a bug believer in a dominant post player, someone who can hold their own in the paint on both ends if the floor.

Nope, Thomas is a PF. I'm a big believer in having a dominant two-way post player too, but Thomas is an above-average rebounder and shot-blocker. If we can get a scoring center then we should be fine.

3. What other needs do we have?

Well, we've the 2, 3, and 4 pretty much locked up with Stephen Jackson, Gerald Wallace, and Tyrus Thomas and we've already discussed our need for another PG and a C. We need a good sixth man and another SG for the bench. Flip Murray has expressed the desire to return to Charlotte and Coach Brown really likes Larry Hughes. I'd guess one of those two guys fills the role of sixth man/back-up SG next year.

4. Outlook/Opinions on the upcoming season.

I think we're going to be a middle of the pack team this year. We're nowhere near as good as teams like Orlando, Chicago, or Miami, but with some hard work from the front office and the players I think we can be on par with teams like Atlanta and Milwaukee.

Thanks for the patience and info.

Anytime. If you've got more questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

    • Pytor kochetkov assigned to Chicago for conditioning stint. Wonder if he gets playing time in the playoffs if Bussi or Freddy flounders
    • What specific LT at 19 are all of the OT Stan’s wanting? Be specific. All have issues and are not guaranteed to improve the OL.. The chances of one of these LT’s who are projected at 19 (Proctor, Lomu) being a bust is much higher than a guy like Lemon/Concepcion imo. Do you really want to draft a kid who has weight struggles along with lateral movement issues? And the other who was a shitty run blocker vs Big 12 competition? Morgan and Co. want to see how Rasheed Walker plays.. They also want to see how Icky’s rehab goes.. There’s a lot of  “wait and see at OT”  We don’t have the luxury for our 1st round pick being a backup. We lack top end talent. Morgan and the others have made it known they want to win now. For that reason, I’m almost positive we punt on OT in the first this year and worry about it next year in the first round if need be.    Thieneman would be ideal. He’s a natural “center field” safety with great coverage skills. For the posters who want trade up for Downs…Do you realize he struggles in coverage? He’s more of a box safety. We already have two of those players.. I wouldn’t mind trading in front of the Vikings for the Thieneman though.. Next need would be DT, but I don’t see the value there at 19.. Same with edge. WR at #19 is very realistic. Who would improve this team more than Lemon/Concepcion? You could argue a slot CB, but the value isn’t great there either. People tend to forget the Seattle Seahawks game.. Yes BY sucked, but no one was getting open.. We could use a quick savvy route runner to beat man coverage. TMAC and Coker are great, but consistently creating separation vs Man Coverage is not their strength.
