Wireless connection to PS3

I cannot get it to work. It says "key information timed out" every time I type in the WPA-PSK code. It's obviously the right password because I'm on my wireless laptop right now. Hardwiring it to the router really isn't an option I want to try.

Any ideas?

Restart the router/modem...check some PS3 forums as well.

I've narrowed it down. It won't obtain my ip address even if I input it manually.

What kind of router do you have?

do you have multiple keys you can use? if so, like on a WEP, you may have to be using the correct one and also have the key number set correctly.

Linksys. I tried WEP, but then it disabled the wireless connections for the computers in my house. Do I then have to go in and use WEP codes for all my computers as well?

The wireless on my PS3 is absolute garbage and gets terrible range and slow speeds. It says it has wireless G, but i highly doubt that because i have my laptop in the same room near the same spot and it gets a much better signal and speed than the PS3.

Maybe your PS3 is out of range of the router? Sometimes it can see the router but it has problems connecting.

Also as for your question about Wep, yes, you have to use the same wireless security and wireless code for every computer using that router wirelessly.

I've heard people having problems getting their IP to configure through Easy. I'm not sure why it happens, but they all say if you go through custom and let it scan automatically it works.

I don't know if it will help you, but until I disabled the connection to the media server I was unable to use my wireless. I don't remember what the error said, and I doubt that it is the same thing that is happening to you but you may want to try it.

I had trouble connecting my router to the PS3....got a Belkin here....I think you will have to access the router from the computer and change the settings...I forgot what, but a Google search should help

OK...just spent 2.5 hours on the phone with Linksys, but we finally got it fixed. Had to set up port forwards to all my devices, change all the passcodes to WEP, new SSID numbers, factory default settings for both the PS3 and the router. That fixed the PS3, but then the laptops wouldn't get web access, so we had to do the same thing with the computers in the house, which made it more complicated because I have Macs and PCs.

All in all, I was very pleased with the Linksys rep (after he tried to sell me a new router for $80). He logged in remotely to my desktop and we still needed 2 hours of troubleshooting to get it fixed.
