Car Selling Question

Johnny Rockets

Recommended Posts

So I put my GMC Envoy up for sale yesterday and have had a couple of calls on it but I have a slight problem. I still owe about $5K (which I don't have to pay off right now) on it so the finance company has the title.

The problem is that the finance company is not local so I would need to have someone pay for the truck, then wait for their check to clear, then mail the finance company the payoff amount and then wait for them to mail the title so I could hand the vehicle over. Not sure who would hand over $9K to me and then wait until all that happens with nothing more than a receipt I give them saying they gave me the money for the car.

Any suggestions? Should I go to my bank (Fifth Third) and take out a personal loan to pay it off so I have the title in hand and then pay off the personal loan in a couple of weeks when I sell it (as long as there are no early payoff penalties)?

Thank You,

Is the person buying the vehicle going to pay cash?

If not, his bank/Credit Union should have no problem contacting your bank who has the title, get a payoff amount, send them a check and deal with their client and you just get a check from them for the difference.

Painless!

Tough situation to be in....You legally can't transfer a car without the title. And for the most part companies, when you pay them off, don't take longer than 2 weeks to get the title to you.

    • Another source: NFL Rumors: Hakeem Butler to Visit Panthers After UFL Success, Wade Phillips' Praise ZACH BACHAR JUNE 10, 2024 The Carolina Panthers are expected to conduct a workout with UFL wide receiver Hakeem Butler, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Butler recorded a league-leading 652 receiving yards as a member of the St. Louis Battlehawks. He was previously a fourth-round draft pick by the Arizona Cardinals in 2019. After the Battlehawks were defeated by the San Antonio Brahmas in the XFL Conference title game, Brahmas head coach and longtime NFL coach Wade Phillips told the receiver that "I'm going to tell everybody in the NFL that I talk to that you need to be playing," via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. Despite the loss by St. Louis, Butler still hauled in six receptions for a team-high 59 receiving yards. The 28-year-old was named the 2024 UFL Offensive Player of the Year, as he was one of only two wideouts to have multiple games with at least 100 receiving yards. While the Panthers added Diontae Johnson and first-round rookie Xavier Legette to their wide receiver room in the offseason, they could still use some depth in the form of Butler. Carolina isn't opposed to picking up former UFL players, as Rapoport revealed on Thursday that the team is also "expected" to sign All-UFL receiver Daewood Davis. Although Butler was selected by the Cardinals in the 2019 draft, he did not play as a rookie due to a hand injury and only appeared in two regular-season games as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020. He did not record a catch. Butler signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers during the 2023 offseason, although he ultimately didn't make the team's regular-season roster. At 6'5", he has the frame to potentially make an impact in training camp and earn a shot at making Carolina's 53-man roster. If his workout goes well with the Panthers, Butler could give himself another chance to possibly return to the NFL.
    • They have all the rookies. The DC game has Ron though. With the new QB. It is weird.  pantherclaw, Bryce sort of is what he is, and in Madden he makes throws the real Bryce can’t make. Here and there. He ain’t ain’t a top QB in Madden though, lots of picks. aone of them lol was the throw that scares the hell out of me when he throws it, out to the boundary... quack quack.
